The destruction of the entire universe and every soul in it is a truly depressing ending. Just because God replaced it with another universe that looked similar doesn't change anything - this is Job and his children all over again. Job doesn't want new children, and neither do I.

That is so true, I didn't even think about Job initially -- I thought about Adam. Adam who, while under the influence of his power, wanted to destroy this universe to create a better one. And the takeaway from that was that it's NOT about creating a perfect universe, better for theoretical people, it's about protecting the actual world and doing good for the actual people who actually exist in it. This message was explicitly expressed by Job but I think it's important to remember that it was also what was driving the plot of season 1. This was what stopping the apocalypse was about.

Aziraphale finally meets Crowley!!

Crowley is a Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta).

Fun fact: when I made some research about Red Admirals, I learnt that they eat fruits as well as nectar. Many butterflies can eat fruit if there's really nothing else but Red Admirals love it, so of course there was going to be an apple.

I also learnt like 2 days ago that butterflies of the Nymphalidae family (including Red Admirals) only have 4 legs, which is cursed information considering many describe "having six legs" as the characteristic for being an insect. So according to this those butterflies aren't insects? Anyway. I had already made the 4 first pages when I learnt that so here Crowley has six legs and in the next too but in 2 weeks he'll only have 4 legs. Pretend you don't notice.

If you're interested, the butterfly who runs into Aziraphale is an Old World Swallowtail (Papilio machaon). It's Gabriel, only making a guest appearance to be an arsehole.

The two humans are my parents.

I have decided that this story is set in France, because 1. I have no idea what butterflies there are in Britain, and 2. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to use the closeness between Aziraphale's name and species (Azuré bleu céleste in French). "Azuré" designates all blue butterflies of the Lycaenidae family.

Translation: "oh look! A blue butterfly! Take pictures of it in burst mode to see what it is!"

Honestly this is the only instance of French in this. The characters speak English.
