Can you IMAGINE what it must have been like to be an Elvis fan in 1960? Like there was basically a two year content drought and then he comes back looking like THIS??

And THIS?

LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, SIR?

Just imagine…

And THEN he has the utter AUDACITY to record Elvis is Back.

Which includes this, with its OBSCENE ending:

And THIS, which currently has me in a chokehold:

But NO, that was not enough for our man, no sir. He ALSO had to go on the Frank Sinatra show! Looking like THIS!

And THEN, as if the women of America hadn’t already collapsed from these earth-shattering moments, he goes and does G. I. Blues!

And don’t even get me started with Flaming Star or Wild in the Country!! I’ve reached the image limit for this post already!!

I just…like it would’ve been SO MUCH. I mean, we are more used to the overwhelming Elvis content today and STILL cannot handle it, but just IMAGINE being in 1960 and dealing with this in real time.

Elvis is Back, indeed.

Thoughts on Barbara Leigh and Susan Henning?

sorry I don’t know if you wanted to know something specific about them 😭 but I’m just gonna say I think they are really important ladies worth knowing, mainly for the fact (this might sound weird but lemme explain) that they both already had children while they dated Elvis👀

some wannabe psychologists *coughs* alanna nash *coughs* albert goldman *coughs* have said Elvis was so enmeshed with his mother that he could never be with a woman who had a child because it would be like incest with Gladys or some crazy shit (yes they have both actually said that💀) all in their attempt to vilify Gladys and make her out to be some obsessive and controlling figure that prevented Elvis from forming regular relationships. which I find to be so untrue and harmful to her. Gladys was such a sweet woman and a loving and devoted mother who literally just wanted some grandbabies, keep her name out of y’all’s books, I’m begging !! (plus she is all our honorary mother-in-law 💗)

so personally that’s why I think it’s important to read about susan henning’s and barbara leigh’s romance with elvis because it sheds light on that subject and shows that elvis was more than willing to be with the woman he liked, regardless if she had a child or not

also I think they are both very cool & iconic and they are serving looks here (+ Barbara Leigh’s book is rlly good) 🤠
