the use of AI lately has made me feel so hopeless, i translated pages of an unfinished fanzine of mine so i can remember why i love art...i hope it can resonate with anyone feeling the same way

cloth fibers ranked by how much sense they make to me

wool. the most sensible and natural fiber. wool is hair from meaty, not very bright animals. I have hair, meat and did not excell in school, so I relate and understand this best

cotton. Cotton is made from plants, but don't be scared yet. these plants are basically small sheep for they are wooly and have hard seeds in them like how sheep are wooly and have hard bones inside them

silk. I was fairly terrorized as a child by caterpillars that made massive silk tents in mulberry trees. We came in into conflict because both of us liked to eat mulberries and climb mulberry trees and also because they liked falling out of the tree upon my person. this was distressing for me for various reasons primary amongst them was that I had been told by the wisdom of my peers that if one of them bit me I would die. anyway I believe that silk comes from caterpillars because I have seen it I have witnessed it I have lived it

linen. bizarre. have you watched videos of people turning flax into fibers? I have watched video after video of flax being transformed from plant to linen and none of it makes any sense. One moment, it's a plant and then if you comb it enough it becomes hair. utterly incomprehensibe witchcraft

I can finally show you that Whiterun landscape that I drew for zine. Skyrim, game of my childhood... Most of all in this game I love landscapes...The wild northern nature, fir trees, snowy mountains, and incredible soundtrack of Jeremy Soul forever broken my heart. i don't care how uncomfortable you are around cis men, queer cis men still need places to go, and sometimes, those spaces will be shared with yours. disabled and neurodivergent queer men and queer men of color especially need a place to go. the queer community isn't the "fuck cis men" community. that is the rad fem community. if you think cis men and people who read as cis men are inherently "too scary" or shouldn't be allowed in queer spaces, you joined the wrong community.

I think we as a society tend to forget that the movie "Freaky Friday" starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Mark Harmon hinges entirely on the narrative's assertion that Chinese people have magic powers

The 2003 movie. The movie that came out like 20 years ago. There is no plot without the movie asking the audience to believe, without explanation, that a random middle aged Chinese woman has the ability to very easily place mystical curses on people

The funniest part of it is the running joke that this Chinese lady/Restaurant owner/Wizard has a daughter who implies she does this shit all the time, to customers, and is FED UP with her mother's mystical nonsense. Like obviously it's a blatantly racist plot element, the writers would certainly never would've had the plot kicked off by a curse cast by Mama Ravioli at the Spaghetti Warehouse, and it was specifically the Orientalism of it all that led them to write "and their bodies switched because they had a fight in a Chinese restaurant in front of the owner, and of course Chinese people have Powers" but also like. The dynamic with the restaurant owner and her daughter, who desperately wants her to stop supernaturally meddling in the lives of strangers, is so much more interesting than what's going on with Jamie Lee Curtis and whoever played the daughter in that movie. They could make a banger Disney+ show out of "The Chinese Restaurant That Curses You To Resolve Your Issues If You Have A Fight There" except that it would absolutely remind people that Disney, in Avril Lavigne's America, released a movie that depended entirely on the audience's willingness to believe Chinese people are secretly wizards

Obviously old Italian ladies have magic powers in real life but this is a post about how different groups are portrayed in movies. Also, I can't stress this enough, when an Italian puts a curse on you it's not to help you come out happier and healthier on the other side. It's to make bad things happen to you until you die.
