this is unfinished, sucks, and a lil cringe at some parts, bc i thought it was a good idea for my second ever animation ever to be probably 6 min with my timeframe being a month to do it

yea... im super drained right now and ive been art-paralyzed for the past 2 weeks and i have school so i might finish it next summer :( but thats ok!

also, while im rambling, when it first read this fic i was facing some really hard challenges in life (will not elaborate) and i couldn't do anything about it. so, to keep me sane and feel just a little bit more safe, i kept reading 21ge

It’s really upsetting to me that so many Constantine fans ignore his mental health but are so quick to bring up his sexuality. John being Schizophrenic was equally important to his character. Please read into his mental health.

Reading the original hellblazer has taught me that John is not as much of an asshole as the fandom acts like he is. Make no mistake, he can be an asshole, and maybe that's played up more in later publications, but I just don't think he's as bad as the fandom acts like he is. Like yeah, he does some bad things for the greater good, but he does it so no one else has to. He's not needlessly cruel to people. He can be friendly. He's kind to children. He cares about marginalized groups. He genuinely has a big heart.

Just thinking about Cheryl.

Cheryl probably being one of the sole reasons John made it past infancy.

Cheryl who was probably warming up bottles in the middle of the night holding her baby brother while she had some test at school she didn’t study for in a few hours.

Cheryl who was probably like 10 when she had to figure out how to potty train John.

Cheryl sick with a fever while toddler John is throwing up and having to take care of him because no one else is going to.

Cheryl having to hear John call her mama when he was little because that’s who she was to him, and how much that probably hurt her little heart. Because she’s not his mom, she’s his sister and they did have a mom.

Cheryl having to go through puberty without her mother and feeling the change in her relationship with her father.

Cheryl who had to be sister and mother to John and probably struggled to hold those two truths in her hands while she tried to grow up in the same abusive home.

All the horror Cheryl probably shielded John from.

Cheryl whose father watched her changed, fantasized about assaulting her, and touched himself to her image and never knew.

Cheryl who dragged John back to talk sense into her daughter when Gemma was messing around with magic.

Cheryl who built a family and loved her brother but was still trapped by another man’s stupidity.

Cheryl who chose to stay in hell rather than let her husband but alone.

Idk man. Cheryl Masters (née Constantine) you deserved better
