Another thing DT17 does really well is incorporating the DW universe into the series.

Because we have the goofier “superhero-y” villains canonically from the DW show in universe, but then there’s also Bulba’s origin and the implied Negaduck origin with Jim Starling.

They even handle the more slapsticky style of DW by just making Drake and Launchpad canonically REALLY good at tanking damage.

Even the costumes are different. Jim’s DW costume is like the OG it’s clearly a jacket and a turtleneck. Drake’s costume looks like modern superhero suits, same colors same silhouette but smoother and more obviously a super suit.

They also answer the logistical question of “what kind of person would run around dressed like a superhero fighting crime?” An actor. A nerdy actor would 100% do that.

Even aging up Gosalyn a little works because it’d probably be easier for a tween to slip through the cracks of a foster system versus a little kid
