DIDN’T YOU KNOW?
You were doomed from the start.
If I was an unreliable narrator I would have told you so.
Wind up on your own floor / Choking on blood
Death of Silence, or Jean-Louis Trintignant (2013), Angela Dufresne / Sept. 15, 1983, The Mountain Goats
But what is the “you” here? What is the you who is looking in the box of the fridge? This you, the true you, the self, that is always going on within you? But if there was no you, why would I be here? If I were an illusion, how could I stand here before you? What does “you” refer to? What is it that is “you”?
What horror trope are you?
THE ANCIENT EVIL
they have wronged you. perhaps, once, you were something powerful– something to be looked at with adoration and worship and fear. but time does not yield to you, and when you lay to sleep, you awake to find yourself forgotten. your rage is insatiable. no matter what, you will make sure they do not forget this time.
"came back wrong" this "lived wrong" that, what about dying wrong. my death will forever cling to you, leaving behind a slimy trail and a metallic taste in your mouth. my soul will forever drag you down like the heavy corpse of a long-dead god, who somehow still grants wishes. you can't tell which one of us is the one not letting go. you know not even your own death will end this.
{ Mahmoud Darwish/ Virginia Woolf/ Edgar Allan Poe, from a Letter to Helen Whitman, "The Last Letters of Edgar Allan Poe to Sarah Helen Whitman"/ Albert Camus, The Possessed (transl. By O'Brien)/ Emily Dickinson/ Anton Chekhov, The Complete Works of Anton Chekhov "The Two Volodyas"/ Jodi Picoult, Nineteen Minutes/ Louisa May Alcott, Little Women/ Yann Martel, Life of Pi/ Cameron Awkward-Rich, Meditations in an Emergency/ De profundis/ Oscar Wilde}
I always thought the choice was mine And I was right, but I just chose wrong

YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK! YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK! YOU CAN BITE AND SCRATCH AND BEG BUT YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK!
estefania loret de mola
Do you survive the narrative?
YES, BUT YOU’RE NOT THE SAME
take it how you want, you were in the belly of the beast and tore your way out. you've been reborn.
came back wrong trope but the character knows that they came back wrong. they’re so acutely aware of how different they are now from how they were before that it drives them fucking insane. they’re stuck trying to return to somebody that’s long dead. they can never be the person they once were. everybody around them knows it. deep down, they know it too, but they’re trapped in a cycle of their own making. of trying to revive someone that no longer exists.
