Almost a week ago, I gave myself permission to stop refilling the queue for all my art sideblogs. I was hoping to prove I'd miss it if I didn't do it. I'm sorry to say... I don't. Allowing myself to set aside this time-consuming responsibility has been a huge relief.
It's been almost 5 years since I started reblogging art here (and added the other side blogs over the following few months), and it's been wonderful. I wanted to make a huge pile of art and roll around in it like I'd found the world's best pile of fall leaves, and I've done so: across the 8 blogs, I've shared over 100,000 art pieces for dozens of Chinese fandoms. It's taken me over a thousand hours, time spent every single day.
I'm done.
I expect I'll still share things that cross my dash, and there are over 18000 works still in my tumblr likes. As I find the interest and energy, I want to try to clear those out. But I'll no longer be checking tumblr tags daily or putting active work into finding new content for mdzsartreblogs, tgcfartreblogs, cnovelartreblogs, erhaartreblogs, or tykartreblogs (I'd already stepped back from svsssartreblogs, zhenhunartreblogs, and dmbjartreblogs).
Thanks for an amazing 5 years. It's been a delight to see everyone's creations and share them with others. I procrastinated writing this for four days because I couldn't think of anything adequate to say, so I'll just leave it here - to you reading this, whether you're an artist, author, sharer, fan - keep being an awesome part of the fandom. Keep telling fanartists how amazing they are and how much you love their work. Keep being a part of the danmei fandom community. We all matter in making a healthy fandom ecosystem, and I hope others will step up in sharing art more widely as I step back.
Thanks for everything.
