Water shortage crisis which has not only affected the queer community but the whole of Kakuma Refuges Camp.

According to UNHCR KENYA, as of February 2025, kakuma Refugee camp hosts approximately 302,372 refugees and asylum seekers from different regions. 302,372 documented civilians becoming desperate as clean water becomes more and more scarce, affecting the general sanity and health of the population.

In KakumaRefugeeCamp, refugees primarily depend on boreholes for water supply. Water is pumped from boreholes to water tanks within the camp, and the water is then distributed through shared taps. Despite this, refugees are not provided with sufficient water for basic hygiene per person.

This on-going crisis is due to lack of tactical long-lasting water infrastructures that provide sufficient water to supply refugees.

I am humbly requesting the good Samaritans to please intervene and donate so that we can be able to access daily necessities including clean water, food, sanitary pads, medication and other emergencies to save lives however little it can be because I believe even 5$ can save a life. March 31st is International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV)—a day to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of transgender and non-binary people worldwide. It is a moment to recognize their courage in living authentically despite the challenges they face. However, for many trans individuals, especially those in marginalized communities, visibility comes at a cost.

In places like Kakuma Refugee Camp, transgender and LGBTQIA+ refugees endure immense suffering. They face violence, discrimination, and lack of access to basic human needs, including healthcare, safe housing, and legal protection. Many have fled persecution in their home countries, only to encounter further oppression in refugee camps where they should be safe. Their voices often go unheard, their pain ignored, and their humanity denied.

Today, we call on the world to stand together in solidarity. Governments, human rights organizations, and allies must act to protect LGBTQIA+ refugees, ensuring their safety, dignity, and freedom. No one should have to live in fear simply for being who they are.

Let this TDOV be more than a celebration—let it be a movement. Let us amplify trans voices, demand justice, and work toward a future where every trans person, including those in Kakuma, can live with pride and without fear.
