A Focus on Revitalizing Hudson, NY’s South Bay Waterfront District
T. Eric Galloway serves as the Galvan Initiatives Foundation founding president and seeks out Hudson, New York, redevelopment projects involving the reuse of historic buildings for community purposes. T. Eric Galloway was recently involved in a grant proposal effort focused on New York counties within the Capital District Regional Economic Development Council. As announced by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, the Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant is focused on the transformation of communities with excellent development potential into vibrant neighborhoods for New York residents to work and live in. With the Galvan Initiatives Foundation having overseen capital investments totaling more than $30 million in recent years, the nonprofit partnered with the City of Hudson in creating a proposal for the $10 million grant. The focus of the proposal was on the South Bay Waterfront District, which has seen successful revitalization efforts in recent years in locations such as the Ferry Street Bridge and Kaz warehouse. The City of Hudson ultimately did not receive the grant, which instead went to Oneonta in Mohawk Valley. However, the grant proposal provides a detailed infrastructure building blueprint that can be used to create integrated green spaces, bike paths, bridges, and other public works.
