The Wolf shifted his weight from foot to foot in an impatient manner, really wanting to attack Eric but restraining himself because he was more controlled than that. The idea that this scrawny looking man was strong was almost a challenge to take him on, but he doubted it’d end well for either of them. Besides, he had to mess around with him a little first.
“What’re you doing so far out, strong man? Pretty deep woods for someone to be alone in.”
The man being impatient had Eric alert and ready to protect himself if needed. His hand instinctively went straight to the knife at the side of his belt, releasing it from its hold just slightly for when or if he’d need it.
“I’m not alone.” He wasn’t, he always told Aaron where he would be when they looked and he thought his partner was listening. “I make it my job to come out this far and even further if I have to.2
