My journey as a dj started with hundreds of hours combing through SF's record stores to find my sound. It's a little sad to me that young djs will never know the community aspect of dj shops, where your favorite artist might be visiting town and roll in, or where you might meet a promoter who books you for your next gig. There is magic in these pieces of wax and they have seen some beautiful dance floors. I've started playing around with sampling them a bit to bring my past into the present, which is a 180 from how I've made music (100% original) up to this point. Sometimes the tables turn and I have to look to new places or old ones for inspiration.
