in Merlin 4x02, Lancelot says he's willing to die for Gwen (because he romantically loves her).

Then Merlin says he is willing to die for Arthur, who's "more important than anything."

The romantic parallels are wild.

so, arthur is extremely proud. as far as his character traits go, this is a pretty fundamental one. humiliation is one of his biggest fears, and the angriest he gets is when he’s been made to look like a fool (whether it be because he trusted someone who betrayed him, or if it’s suggested that he do something he thinks would be seen as cowardly, etc.). he hates the feeling of being embarrassed. probably the first instance we see of him being genuinely angry is in valiant (s1e2) when the witness dies before the whole snake shield thing can be confirmed and he’s accused of being scared to fight valiant so he yells at merlin for humiliating him, blahblahblah.

ten fucking minutes later though, LITERALLY the next episode, when merlin is in danger from the mortæus poison, uther has arthur imprisoned and instead of being concerned about the optics of being in a cell, arthur fucking pendragon not only begs for merlin’s life, he offers himself up to be put in the stocks for “a week, a month even, i don’t care.” he literally SAYS “i’m begging you.” pleading like that is already so against his nature, but volunteering himself for the most public possible humiliation to save a man he’s known for what, a week? i’m sick. he loved him that much already.

The stars in Camelot looked like millions of diamonds against a velvet void.

Arthur leaned against the cold stone battlements, his gaze fixed upward. "You know, some of the ancients thought they were holes in the firmament," Arthur murmured. "Pricks of light from a world beyond our own. But I don't believe it."

"What do you think they are, then?" Merlin asked, standing just close enough for their shoulders to brush. "I’d give everything to know, but I suspect some truths are simply not meant for mortal men like us."

Fifteen centuries later, the sky above the modern world was often choked with the haze of progress, but Merlin still knew where to look. They sat together in the grass, the night air carrying the early winter’s chill.

"They're suns, Arthur," Merlin explained softly. "Massive engines of burning gas, infinitely far away. They aren't holes; they're beacons." Arthur looked at him, his brilliant sapphire blue eyes wide with a concern and wonder that felt entirely new. "One day," Merlin promised, his hand finding Arthur’s in the dark, their fingers interlacing, "One day, humans will walk among them."

As Arthur looked back to the heavens with wonder for the future, Merlin felt a familiar, ancient desire in his soul. He had waited an eternity for this return, surviving through centuries of suffocating loneliness. He would not let time or destiny steal his king again. Merlin would unpick every threat and weave his magic into a final, impenetrable shield, doing whatever it took to ensure Arthur would still be alive to see the day humanity finally touched the stars.

is john there are they following papa who knows. i know that sam and dean dress like twins because sam wears dean's hand-me-downs + it's easier for john to find his sons should one of them get lost or abducted, he can point at dean and go have you seen a little boy dressed exactly like this boy. or when the yellow-eyed demon finally finds them and tells his goons to grab the kid in the green flannel well they're both wearing green flanell so what now. the flannel and carharrt have a job in this family too.
