(You could tell her.)
It was a strange thought. Yes, she could tell her everything. Or even only some of the truth. Tell her all about Nui, tell her everything she wanted to know - and then Akane could beckon her closer. Come with me and destroy the ones who hurt you. We’ll become vengeance together.Â
In the end, the thought was nothing more than indulgent. Satsuki was more useful to her while she was suspended as an enemy. Besides, she had no time to welcome friends and allies for her own personal desires - her life was just dedicated to killing Ragyo.
(For you will likely die in the process.)
The grim progression of her thoughts had left her silent before Satsuki. Wouldn’t you feel the same? But, ah, she knew her father’s killer. “Perhaps,” she answered. “I know the idea of revenge enough to know that it will consume you if you let it. You are not as strong as you think, Matoi. That knowledge will destroy you.”
Akane looked her in the eyes. Satsuki was taller than her. That made her blood boil. Ah, what fondness had grown out of her hatred for this girl…
"No. I'm stronger than you would imagine. You underestimate me."
My drive. My resolve. My will.
The way Akane looked at her. She could feel her anger, and her blood boiled in turn. This girl was in her way. The last gate that she needed open before she could continue down her road, she was sure. And she had the nerve to infer that she was overestimating herself.
No, Matoi Satsuki always knew. She knew herself. That was her strength.
"Maybe you're the one who's not as strong as they think, Kiryuin."Â
She blurted this out on a whim, not really realizing what she had said until she had said it. It was sort of a thought that was in the back of her mind, but she wasn't sure if Akane would take it as an insult or not. Nevertheless - she didn't back down. She stood her ground.
If Akane meant to prove her wrong? Who knew. She certainly didn't plan to fall.
"Anything to say to that?"
