What’s Faierie?

Faierie is the source of the term ‘fairy’. While a fairy in modern day’s definition is an insect-winged little creature they used to have more broad meaning, I read that from Introduction of Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales book. The word was used to describe many magical creatures like goblins and gnomes. That meaning was lost to translation of the word and became what it is today. I wanted to use the broad meaning of the term for my own magical world.

The faierie in my magical world consists of:

Merfolk

The Elements (Sylvestra, Gnomha, Unndina and Vulchra)

The Nymphs (Celestial nymphs, Water nymphs and Forest Nymphs)

The Pixies (Windy Pixy and Flora Pixa)

The Elves

The Goblins

World of Anu

Anu is the name of my magical world. The name just come up to me, it might have meaning in other language or already used by other people. But in my language, Bahasa Indonesia, the word ‘anu’ used like the english-spoken people used ‘err’ and the japanese use the word ‘ano’. Like we don’t really know what to say in the midst of thinking an something and said it.

The world is magical, which there are a lot of magical creatures. I do have dragons, spirits, and dark creatures. I also have continents divided by kingdoms and stuff. I’ve laid out some rough draft for cultures in every kingdom and human settlement (like villages or moving tribes). The magical world layout for Anu would be reflected on my designs as they have tendency to show in patterns, coloring and the tribal-like clothes.

I have three major lands in synonym of continents. These three major lands are the one that have humans in it but doesn’t mean they’re dominantly living in there. I plan to add archipelagos and islands all over my world.

NUMA ARD

The fictional land of Numa Ard took inspiration from Number. The word Numa Ard consists of Numa and Ard. I took ‘Num’ from the word Number add an ‘a’ and I took the word ‘Ard’ from Arabic word of Land (courtesy of google translate). Further explanation please click here.

ALVALOND

The second major land took inspiration from Alphabet. I change the ‘ph’ with ‘v’ because they’re phonetically the same in Bahasa Indonesia and change the ‘a’ with ‘o’ from the word ‘Land’. Further explanation please click here.

FARGJORD

The third major land inspired from colors. I googled the word ‘Color’ and ‘Land’ in Norwegian which was ‘Farge’ and ‘Jord’. I took the ‘e’ and put them together. Further explanation please click here.
