Gecko is actually a second generation hybrid.
Her mother is a leopard gecko hybrid and she eloped with a man from Syria. They were Eden’s workers before they ran away. Geckos name isn’t actually gecko… it’s Inaya. Inaya had it good. Good childhood, loving parents, good life… until her family got murdered. And she had to live off the streets for a while until she came across the brotherhood, the mentor taking her in because he knew her dad before becoming a mentor. Gecko became an assassin… for vengeance.
And she was driven by bloodlust when finding the perpetrators and torturing the living shit out of those who killed her parents.
Bullfrog, who she formed a romantic relationship with, talked her out of her bloodlust because he doesn’t want her to keep going through such a dark path to the point where she ended up hurting an innocent. Little by little, he helped her get better as a person and such. She was an assassin a few years until she retired. She felt like a failure as an assassin despite doing everything right but still had people she cared about die. She retired… only to later on be forced out of retirement by the warden/sarah.
Now lemme answer the question “how does the mentor know her dad?”
Because geckos dad was an assassin himself. He and the crow knew each other when they started it out and became good friends. Khalil, the dad, also wanted to have a simple life. He immigrated to Eden where he met Yara, the mama, while she was pest control and him being the delivery man.
They fell in love and ran away to Syria when they got married and had Inaya. Khalil retired the moment he found Yara to be pregnant. He retired so he can be with his wife and daughter for as long as he can until he got killed along with his wife.
