On the 28th October I went with a fellow student to go and see ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’. On the show was Priscilla Presley, Elvis Costello, Danny Dyer and Rob Beckett. I enjoyed going to the show as I haven’t seen ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ before, but since going I have watched it more. It was fascinating to see how Jonathan and the guest engage with the audience, when the camera’s were off as we felt more included in the show and Rob Beckett was deficiently the highlight of the show! I learnt from seeing the show how important the audience is when doing a chat show or a show similar.

Live East is a music show which allows upcoming artists to perform their songs and to talk about their work. My role in this project was sound assistant, this meant I helped setting up microphones for the band that we had in and for the presenter. I got to develop my sound skills furthermore by learning how to set up microphones for a band shoot, which I had never done before.

The Queen’s Fair was a final major project for one of the third year at the time. My role in this project was to help with the VT interview with the Pearly Queen of Royal Greenwich and the Pearly King of Smithfields Market. It was a honour to interview them, as they had some incredible stories about what they do and who they have met.

I was given the opportunity to be apart of Move It 2016 as apart of the Roaming Camera team. Move It is the UK’s biggest dance event in the UK, which allows dancers to perform, receive career advice, develop their skills through workshops and discover dance opportunities. Over the 3 days, my role was to organise the interviews with celebrities and dancers. This included speaking to their agents or the dancers themselves to make sure they were there on time for the interview, and in the right place. I had to organise big celebrity interviews such as Strictly Come Dancing stars Kevin and Karen, Abby Lee Miler and Ryan Jenkins. I learnt a lot about how important it is to keep to a schedule when doing a live broadcast and also, how much planning goes into making sure people are in the right place at the right time. I loved working for Move It and hopefully I will be able to do it again for them.

For our next project at University, the brief was to a magazine show which would be recorded as if it was Live. The group wanted to try something different than normal so we decided to pick a Children Science show, we were inspired by ‘Blue Peter’ and ‘Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab’. My role in the project was Sound Operator for one of the VTs and in the studio and VT Producer for the Parachute VT. I really enjoyed creating Blast Off as I had a good crew around me in which we all worked well together, and furthermore I developed my sound skill’s further. I felt I developed my sound skill’s further as when watching the show back I knew where I went wrong in terms of sound levels. I also enjoyed organising the VT as I learnt how to work with young children and what it was like being a producer.

Royal Television Society Filming

Today I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to film a talk on Consumer Electronics - is the Revolution Relevant? Ken Blakeslee, Nigel Walley, Martyn Suker, Anthony Karydis and Sarel Madziya were the speakers for talk. My role was the sound mixer for all their microphone and video’s they were speaking out, and to make sure none of microphones were peaking. This experience allowed me to be able to practice my sound skills further as I had to set up a link from the sound desk into the broadcast camera, which I had only done once before. I really enjoyed listening to the talk to, as it was interesting to find out about the future of technology and how it could effect TV.

The National TV Awards was an incredible night! Even though I was very high up in the stands, I was still able to see everything, even the celebrities and crew waiting to see if they had won. It was nice to see the show’s that I watch, such as Great British Bake Off, to be rewarded for work they have done for the show. Hopefully one day I will be sitting down there with a TV show I have worked on. I’m looking forward to seeing it next year!

Last night, I saw Michael McIntyres Big Christmas Show which airs out on Christmas Day on BBC One. From being one of around 2000 people watching’ Michael McIntyres Big Christmas Show, I could tell it would need a lot of planning and organisation to make sure it run smoothly. However there was some parts which didn’t, but when it didn’t they made sure we as the audience were not bored and were still laughing. Overall I loved watching it and I could not stop laughing from start to finish of the show, and it was the best way to start of the Christmas spirit.

The Apprentice: You’re Fired

Today, I was very lucky as I won tickets to go and watch ‘The Apprentice: You’re Fired’ being filmed at the London Studios. I had never been to a recording for this show. It was really interesting to see how everything runs behind the camera and then watching it on TV and to see the difference on how they record it to the edit. In addition it was fun to know who was fired before the rest of the country found out.

I have created a personal website which has information about how to contact me and all my work. This was done as a part of my course work for college

I was lucky enough to go and be able to work with a sound mixer at Films@59 in Bristol. I learnt a lot, about the industry from this experience. I watched and helped sound mix the BBC’s One Show, watched and helped doing the voice over for ITV’s Dickinson Real Deal, work with foley artists to create sound and also have a go for myself and on the last day be a runner for the studio.

My friend Saskia, who is a photography student, wanted to film a shoot so that she could show universities how she creates it and how it is set up rather than through images. I filmed this along side my media classmate Ruby, we edited this on final cut pro and used the song ‘Dirty Paws’ by Of Monster and Men instrumental version.

Today I went to Ravensbourne university for a workshop. The workshop was about what you should do in an interview for university's, but more specifically how to do well. I really enjoyed this workshop and I know it is really gonna help me when I go for interviews.

Harpist playing in the Kilmorey Mausoleum

My friend Lucy wanted me to film her playing the harp for a project she was doing. I filmed her in the Kilmorey Mausoleum, which had a historic past and a beautiful setting. This was filmed on a Olympus Imaging Corp and edited on iMovie.
