It's the Motto for Carnival here! And today it's the first day of Carnival! You think you're cool going around like a punk or a sailor... Well, here it's so much better! We had only 5 hours today and even the teachers are masked. It's so fucking cool!!! I'll post some photos at the end of the carnival time. See ya! :D
man muss riskieren. it's necessary to aventured.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
I am already 5 months in German and I am proud of myself. I've thought that I should learn this last months. I mean, I should learn more at the school. Despite not need it,I want to learn as my colleges and that was a good idea. On wednesday, I had pedagogic. We are speaking about culture and education. We had a text and there was this written:
"You must first discover what you have and them go away of the your own situations, you need to risk, to be embarrasse und leanr about the knowhow of multiculturalism" (it's dificult to translate it, sorry)
Foreign Exchange Student
Urban Dictionary- Foreign exchange student:
„Most awesome person you will ever meet. Exchange students willingly decide to get off their butts, leave their home country, and go see the world. For that reason, they should be given a heck of a lot of credit. Usually, a foreign exchange student will have a funny accent and not speak your language very well. This is all the more reason to hang out with them, because everything will suddenly become that much more hilarious. Also, they are generally young people, and have the tendency to be extremely good looking. In conclusion, mad props to all exchange students out there.“
Ya son Tres meses, There are now three months

Friends... They ask you to do stupid things. They laugh with you for no reason. They pretend nothing from you. They do things just for you. They tell you if something is wrong. And they help you if you need them. They can make you smile when the only thing you want to do is cry. They are the better part of you, always.
If you're asking why I wrote something so "sentimental" it's because I can finally say that I found friends, real friends, here. And every day I think about the "what if...": What if I went to a different school... What if I went to a different part of Germany... What if I went to another country... What if I stayed at home...
But the "what if..." are only that, possibilities. I'm living right now one of the best time in my life.
And that is also thanks to my friends! And not only the other exchange, but also the "German people" and the few people at home that care for me!
I don't know what I'd do without you! You are already a part of my life! A part of my heart! And I want it to be that way, also after this year!
Lots of love!
Nikki
3 months in postcards.
Tina,Nikki,Pancho.
More than three months
Hey guys! You know, it's already been more than three months! And next week it's Christmas! Are you all already excited?! For me it'll be the first Christmas without my family; I don't know what to think or feel right now!!! My German family is super, but I don't know how it'll be on that special day. Will I miss my family?! Will it be like normal?! We'll see! For now, I'll go to bed! A big hug to all of you readers!!!
Nikki
Ps. I have a surprise for you planned for Christmas! ;)
Never thought I'd find something like this! (in your head you have to sing it like it's "Someone like you"!) It's something peculiar, to say the least. Yesterday a friend of mine told me about this thing: Bubble Tea (something Asian)! At first I was really skeptical, but it's really good! The bubbles are strange! And today is Nikolaus! Happy name day to the Nick, Niklas, Nicla and so on of the world! I received a Nikolaus chocolate statue at school! Tschüß!
Nikki
I have to tell you all a little secret. I decided to go a year abroad because I was quite bored of my life. I needed to meet new people, to know about one of my favorite countries, to find myself!
Before coming here, to Germany, I coudn't understand why my parents got quite crazy and excited when we saw or found something from Colombia (Yes, I am half Colombian, Half Spanish) Or why they use to get emotional when listening to a colombian song.
I was quite lost. I couldn't find myself. "Was I colombian? or Spanish? no, Basque? I was born in colombia but I've been leaving in spain since I was 6 and I do speak basque but my parents are so proud of their country but...I don't know...
Now, I've been in germany for two and half months withouth eating something from my country or just without my flag! lol Feew days ago I received a box. It was send by my parents. I opened it and I found colombian food, basque food, spanish food...but under all of that, I found my basque country flag. I got emotional when I saw it. I remembered all those things that I use to do with my friends when I was a child, such as, running behind Olentzero( "Basque santa claus) and asking for presents.
good memories :)
...but not as good as the ne ones ;)
with love, Tina*
I'll post a translation at the end in English! Like the song says, I don't have the words. But only because I don't really know the words! I was in the car, heard this song and I realized that it's similar to our current situation! Well, we don't have to profess our love, but you know what I mean! So, this song is for my friends all over Germany and for other people that can understand this situation! A lot of love!
Nikki
Here is the translation!
If words were my language I would have already told you With all the beautiful words How much you mean to me I can only behold you Because i adore you like a queen But i can't walk up to you Since my anxiety comes in between
I'm at a loss of words I don't have the words, To tell you how i feel I'm at a loss of words I can't find the words I have no words to describe you
If words were my language I would have already told you How much i would want to be by your side Because you are everything, everything i have I can understand that its not easy for you You can't see behind the mask But i dont understand why it doesnt move you, You are missing the heaven on earth Heaven on earth
I'm at a loss of words I don't have the words, To tell you how i feel I'm at a loss of words I can't find the words I have no words to describe you
You're the memory of ease I didn't get to know yet The first sunbeam after a long rain You are the one who finds me When i lost myself in thoughts And when everything is quiet your voice is there
I'm at a loss of words I don't have the words, To tell you how i feel I'm at a loss of words I can't find the words I have no words to describe you
No words to describe you
I'm at a loss of words I don't have the words, To tell you how i feel I'm at a loss of words I can't find the words I have no words to describe you
No words
I know telling you wouldn't be hard If words were my language Writing a song for you wouldn't be hard If words were my language
So. Yesterday I was doing some German exercise because next Saturday I have a test. I didn't know one of the answers, so I clicked to see what was right. And the fuckin' thing?! It says: "First you should try alone!" What the Fuck?! Troll Exercise in German!!! I started laughing like a mad woman!!!
Nikki
I couldn’t find a better photo, so let’s go with this one! Probably, people that are or were exchange will understand what I’m going to explain; for the other it’ll probably sound really stupid and strange! When you’re in a foreign country for a long time and people don’t speak your native language, some times your mind tricks you. I’ll ask this to the other exchange: do you ever hear words that are in your language when you listen to people talking in their language?! Some times it happens to me and I’m like: Am I getting crazy or what? Because that sentence doesn’t make sense! I don’t know how to explain it! It’s so fuckin’ hilarious at times! As the picture says, when you turn around it’s another language; it’s exactly like that! You listen to other people and they speak again normally. The human brain is really something, right?! I hope it’s not too confusing… For me it is!
Nikki
Ps. The Spanish thing is for my other two companions! :*
I’m in Bilbao, Spain right now and this happens a lot. I speak Spanish fairly well, so it happens more with Basque (even though Basque doesn’t really sound like English at all).
I think it’s just that our minds are just used to certain things so when you hear similar sounds, your mind likes to use your L1 (native language) just because it’s used to it. I think that is partly how we created onomatopoeic words, like “knock knock,” “swoosh” and “meow,” just because we can relate these sounds with our own language. Typically a language like Spanish won’t use “sh” sounds like in “swoosh” because, with the exception of an emerging dialect in Argentina-Chile, sh doesn’t exist.
Bah, tangent… and a sleepy one at that so it’s blah. Sorry. Long day.
what did you say??? euskalduna zara??? aaaaaaaaaaa euskeraz hits egin behar dut zurekin! nire euskera faltan botatzen dut aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa nire eguna argitu dozu XD eta bilbotarra gainera! neu ere!!! Cristina :)
¿Eres de Bilbao? Pues, no sé hablar vasco… lo siento. Aunque yo quisiese aprender hablarlo, la clase de cultura y lengua vascas solo había un día de lectura sobre la lengua… Es una lastima que tenga que volver a EEUU en tres semanas. :P
joe T.T hay que mantener el idioma leches! XD suerte en usa! y saludos desde alemania!
