Online status on inverted Tumblr controls
Tumblr has an “Availability” option in which a green dot will appear over the messaging icon of your Tumblr controls when enabled:
And in cases where you want to have black Tumblr controls, you invert it, but doing so also means inverting the color of the green dot (to purple).
So to make your controls black and maintain the green availability dot, you can style your controls as follows:
iframe#tumblr_controls, .iframe-controls--desktop { filter:invert(100%) hue-rotate(180deg); -webkit-filter:invert(100%) hue-rotate(180deg); -moz-filter:invert(100%) hue-rotate(180deg); -o-filter:invert(100%) hue-rotate(180deg); -ms-filter:invert(100%) hue-rotate(180deg); }
And this is the outcome:
Just a small script I made for my blogs thanks to the hurricanes. Nothing fancy. Feel free to use, and change the words INSIDE the quotation marks to your discretion. Place it in your <head> tag, it will load before your actual blog does.
<script> window.alert("This Blogger is affected by Hurricane Irma. If you hear nothing from this Blogger by the time the storm passes Miami, please try to get in contact."); </script>
This code is meant to give some degree of peace of mind to followers.
Redirect your old tumblr links to your new url--the correct way!
A quick Google search told me that apparently no one knows how to do this properly :P You can redirect all your links from your old tumblr url to the same respective links on your new tumblr url (as long as you have your old url saved i.e. on a sideblog). This doesn’t just always redirect old links to your new tumblr’s homepage.
This is like going to: http://oddhouredproductivity.tumblr.com/tagged/tips (try it!)
and the URL automatically changes to: http://oddhour.tumblr.com/tagged/tips
If you’ve ever tried to find a post from someone’s old url on their new url, you know how annoying it can be.
How to use: Add this script either before your end body tag (</body>) or in the head section (<head></head>) of the tumblr where you saved your old URL. Change oddhour.tumblr.com to whatever your new URL is.
<script> /* redirect to new blog :: questions? ask oddhour on tumblr */ location.replace('http://oddhour.tumblr.com' + location.pathname); </script>
To add a delay before redirecting, refer to this post.
For a simple redirect theme like mine or for an example of this script in use (with delay), see the code here.
Have a question? First check the #redirect code tag.
demo/preview | difficulty: medium; requires a little knowledge of html
ok so basically i wanted to add a mini faq or some kind of information that people should know before sending me any asks, but i didn’t want a separate faq page and i wanted it conveniently on the same page as the ask box so that people who send me messages have no excuse to not know the answers to what they’re looking for already.
the thing is that unlike the /submit page, tumblr doesn’t allow you to easily add text in your /ask page. so jquery is needed to add text where you want it to be (in this case, before the ask box).
so here’s a tutorial on how to do such a thing (warning: it’s kind of lengthy because i’m trying to explain it well):

Popup Box Tutorial by raiidens
I’ve gotten a couple requests on how I’ve been adding these to both my theme and personal blogs. But now today, I will finally show you how. Some slight knowledge of HTML, CSS and possibly jQuery would be nice but it’s mostly copy and paste so it shouldn’t be too too hard.

Random Image Script Tutorial | Beginner
The tutorial about the random image script is for when you want to have different sidebar images (or technically any other image - except background image) change when you refresh. It will explain how to install the code in any theme. As long as you know how to CTRL + F and know how to upload images to an image host, you will be able to do this.
It’s a long tutorial so be prepared to read - but it’s a thorough tutorial.
HOW TO MAKE A SEARCH BOX
Search boxes are apparently a hot commodity. I get asked this a lot, especially as far as theme-hunter’s theme was concerned. I now present you a tutorial on how to make one and how to style it. Enjoy!

Sidebar image
place under meta section <meta name="image:Sidebar" content=" " />
place under css tag #sidebar { width: 270px; height: 100%; background: url( ); right: 0; top: 0; position: fixed; }
place under body tag, under any scripts <div id="sidebar"></div>
Memo to me,
create a code to have a fixed position image on the side of a webpage that IS NOT the background
