Hi everyone, today I'm going to discuss the results of our playtest over the past few weeks, after two weeks of designing and tweaking the complete "KnightFall" game.
Skye and I spent at least a week looking for people to help us playtest. First, we found four game enthusiasts who play games in their free time, such as the Soul-Like series, first and third-person shooters, and action-adventure games. The reason we got these people to playtest is that we designed the game to be mostly related to these types of games, so they could give us better advice and let us optimize the game. In addition to these four game enthusiasts we also invited a person who does not usually play games to help us playtest, we hope to learn from him what his first impression of playing our game, and what shortcomings need to be improved.
Because of the Covid-19 reason we had to change the playtest to online, before the playtest began the five playtester only know this game is a 2D platform adventure game, in a simple understanding of the game operation, they began to playtest, in the process of their play test Skye have in the record when they play the game when the first feeling is what, to give most of the answers are the game as a whole is very good, music and sound selection and painting style is very attractive, but the drawback is the high level of repetition.
After they completely playtest, we gave them a form to fill out and also talked to them individually about the highlights and drawbacks of the game, where I briefly summarize, from the four game enthusiasts we chose to learn that the biggest highlight of our game is the effect of the player swinging the knife and the sense of combat, I am very happy that they all like this, because in the initial design of the game melee system, I spent a long time to perfect this important thing, followed by another person who never played the game pointed out that the music and style of painting is very attractive to him.
After this game design and playtest, I learned a lot about making games, and I am very happy to have this opportunity to finish my own small game.
