Also before people start being weird about this, yes Tach and I coordinated this. Obviously. We're on the same team. Neither of us are trying to steal attention from each other. In fact we decided to do it at the same time because it felt nice to reveal it together. It would be funny to one-up a coming out but it's not what's going on.

anyways about corbin. canon corbin is dead like everyone else but he was the human-mutant experiment who was bred closest to tach, so genetically they are sort of similar but personally wise they are not. corbin was softer, more idealistic, had less control over his powers. some people at the lab considered them twins, others considered them clones, but to tach, his attachment to corbin is more like a codependent “the universe artificially wove us into existence and split us into two beings” way.
canon corbin didn’t choose a human name and didn’t develop as many human characteristics before tach escaped from the lab and killed everyone, so tach imagined them into existence as a coping mechanism. his “do not separate” buddy is gone and he misses him dearly (or the idea of him anyway). sometimes tach thinks about how if the scientists made corbin just a little different, he might’ve been “better” than tach and they would focus their efforts on him instead. he’s like a brother but not like a brother and tach doesn’t like thinking of him as a brother because it’s not an accurate term. they’re like a cell that performed mitosis. maybe they DID start from a cell that that underwent mitosis and then had a bajillion other stuff injected in them and became different (don’t worry about how the mutant human experiments actually work haha shoving science under a rug)
contemporary/twitch streamer au corbin is probably like tach’s childhood best friend or fellow former orphanage member. they got adopted by different families but they still play together and hangout. tach gets his fantasy of always sticking with his codependent roommate / other half of his existence. it’s an “everyone lives” au but corbin is not really important in the main universe. tach makes his dead friends important. they were born in labs and reborn in tach’s imagination so they never had much agency. they will always be happy friends and sidekicks in tach’s imaginary friend circle. but irl they’re long gone and have no influence :(

re: finding platonic explanations for things you cannot even imagine, I'd like to see an aromantic jealousy plot for a change. Character A is seethingly jealous of Character B's love interest but it's not because they're romantically interested in B, it's because they're aro and B is the most important person in their life and this is an unwelcome reminder that they will always come second to a traditional romantic partner in society's eyes and possibly B's as well.
And honestly you don't even need a powerful interpersonal connection to activate Hater Mode. I wasn't that close to any of my middle school classmates and I certainly wasn't interested in them romantically, but I was still so sick of hearing about the boy band guys they had crushes on that I fantasized about Justin Bieber dying in a plane crash. Not my most hinged of moments but idk what to tell you, middle school was a bad time
chlorothrill is inherently a funny character to me. bro did not exist in the original story. bro was not relevant in the original story. made him up to be a love interest stereotype (#men in women dominated fields). retconned him to be bale's friend. i liked the chlorothrill pun so much it elevated his character relevance. got stuck on his civilian name and instead of searching up "plant names for boys" i just went with my stardew valley husband.
i wished i'd let him bake for longer because he is now Interesting and a character foil to tach (born weapon vs guy who destroyed his offensive power to grow consumable food). unfortunately chloro has more chemistry with tach, so the Love Interest Stereotype is not going well. chloro got nervous that he will no longer be useful post-coup, so now he sucks up to hq, acts as their damage control, and his job is posting farmcore uwu softboy aesthetic instagram reels. if he can't have hard power, he'll have soft power. he'll be "useful" because he makes the new hq more likable. but he also wants to go to uni and interact with people outside of the hero sphere.
he will show up for like 5 paragraphs in the arcinder wedding fic and there is a Reason he's there, but it's mostly for bale's character development
