Cheng Xiaoshi sat beside Lianhua, careful not to disrupt her from her sulking. Despite the glumness that dusted her delicate features, she looked comfortable. Without saying a word, he gently brushed back a few strands of her hair. It was a soft gesture, one he hoped comforted Lianhua for at least a moment. His blunt nails lightly grazed against the soft fur of her ears as his hand left her hair. They were quite lovely and Cheng Xiaoshi itched to touch them every time he could.

“I… I was…” He opened and closed his mouth, cutting himself off while he fought the urge to disagree. She was right though. He was going to bring it up, tease her and hopefully lighten her mood.

He gave up on trying to deny what he was definitely going to do. “Who says you can’t! I am here and ready to entertain, m’lady.” He needed attention or he’d wilt away like a forgotten flower. “Pester away.~” She wasn’t the only one unhappy with the rain. They could keep each other company for a bit.

Lianhua  found  it  endearing  that  Cheng  Xiaoshi  was  willing  to  be  a  source  of  entertainment  to  cure  her  boredom.  After  all,  she  also  thrived  off  of  attention,  and  too  long  without  it  could  have  dire  consequences!  This  could  prove  to  be  mutually  beneficial.  Her  ears  perked  up  as  if  sensing  the  subtle  change  in  mood,  expression  now  slightly  hopeful  while  she  shifted  a  little  closer.

Lianhua  raises  a  brow  at  the  rather  tactful  answer,  but  accepts  it  regardless  with  a  thoughtful  hum.  She  can't  expect  Akane  to  give  her  all  of  the  answers  right  away,  of  course!  At  the  very  least,  she's  satisfied  that  he  didn't  attempt  to  blatantly  fib,  whether  out  of  his  own  personal  interest  or  because  he  understood  how  quickly  she  might  catch  on,  she's  uncertain.  Her  keen  senses  did  pick  up  on  the  magic  imbued  within  the  jewelry  after  all,  along  with  the  underlying  sense  of  taboo;  while  it  drives  her  curiosity  to  new  heights,  she  knows  better  than  to  pry  so  overtly.
