Hello!! Could I have a "director's commentary" for Il Giardino dell'Uomo Verde // The Green Man's Garden?

Absolutely! And thank you for the ask!!

I didn't have a lot of deep thoughts when first writing it. I was mainly spurred after a full day of gardening myself and daydreaming what sort of crazy outfits Strickler would probably have to wear to enjoy a day in the sun (my HC is, it's probably as wild as Marceline's from Adventure Time) - and of course that post Trollhunters domesticity.

And who could forget, my deep love of punning. Honestly if it wasn't for the pun I probably wouldn't have included the fact that Barbara was pregnant. It just seemed like the nice bow at the end of the chapter at the time (despite my own, uh, personal avoidance to baby-stuff. It's just not my cup of tea atm ^^; )

At the time I first wrote it, it was originally just a tumblr post that got a lot of love and traction, so I attempted to make a fic out of it...I liked the idea of writing a quaint slice of life in which Barbara and Walter chill and cut out grocery coupons. And I do have future chapter ideas! I just, need to address the baby in the womb (badum-tss)

The title of the fic is something that amuses me. I like the idea that Strickler likes to garden, I HC him going Topside to an Etruscan family (under Roman rule) that owned an olive grove - an picked up a love for getting his hands in the soil. There's something very earthy about soil and rocks and I like to think gardening helps Strickler approach his 'troll' side...and in the fic's context, come to terms with only being in his troll-form. And of course, something something Green Man

I make no promises when the next chapter will come out, but in the meantime! Please enjoy this fun little doodle! I'll probably try to color it at a later date hehe
