the morning after leehan asked you to go on three dates with him to give him a chance, you were trying to figure out whether he was really being serious or not. you felt like you were caught up in the moment because of the emotions he was showing you, but what if he just did that to mess with your head and make you THINK he was being emotional when he really wasnt?

it’s either that or you’re just crazy. but it’s fine. you can handle three dates.

before you had left leehan’s house with your friends, he made sure you were behind everyone in your group so he could catch you for a second without anyone noticing. as you were putting on your shoes, leehan grabbed your arm and pulled you to the side.

“what are you doing” you say holding one of your shoes in one hand and his arm in the other to balance yourself so you didnt tip over.

“i’ll text you tomorrow about our first date” he whispered, smiling

“shh” you furrow your brows and put your second shoe on before walking out to catch up with your friends, a smile almost peeking through your straight face

laying in bed that night, you couldn’t help but wonder whether he would actually text you about the date or not. maybe that was his way of getting in your head. as you were thinking a million different things, you felt your phone buzz from under your pillow.

surely enough, it was leehan.

“you excited to go on your first date with me😁😁😁”

“depends on what it is🤔”

“you were supposed to say yeah im so excited to see you”

“well no”

“… anyways is tomorrow around 4:30 okay?”

“yeah that should be fine”

“okay see you then, i’ll pick you up”

you set your phone down and stare at your ceiling for a couple more minutes before going about what would become a long day.

at 4:25pm the next day, leehan texted you saying he was outside.

“i’m here”

“oh give me a second”

“take your time :)”

you grabbed your purse and headed out the door. as you stepped outside and looked for leehan’s car, you saw him waiting by it with a grin on his face as he made eye contact with you.

leehan had picked out a small pottery studio a couple towns away. it was quiet, but felt homey. the two of you walked inside and the worker immediately greeted you and began to explain how the process of choosing and painting a piece of pottery worked in their shop.

since it was your first time, a plate seemed like the easiest trinket to paint and leehan seemed to have the same thought, although maybe he was just following your lead

you sat side by side, both awkwardly trying to paint your plates without making a mess

“you’re not half bad,” he teased when you accidentally flicked some paint on his hand

“thanks,” you rolled your eyes but smiled.

after another couple minutes of silence, he opened up. “i wasn’t always like this, you know.”

you glanced at him, curious.

“back at my old school? no one really liked me. i was kind of the new kid there who couldn’t really fit in anywhere and i don’t know, i guess the attention here.. i didn’t know how to handle it. i guess i acted cocky to hide that.”

you didn’t reply, but instead gave him a reassuring smile and scooted your plate a little closer to his.

for the first time, you saw past the just the surface level of leehan. he was just a kid who was lonely, not simply someone arrogant.

you finished painting with stains on both your hands and clothes. on the ride back to your apartment, leehan drove carefully, almost as though the second he dropped you off, you would disappear forever.

when he pulled up in front of your apartment, the silence between you felt heavy.

“thanks for coming,” he said softly.

you shrugged, “thanks for inviting me.”

he hesitated, then quietly spoke, “can i text you tomorrow?”

you nodded and slipped out, the faint scent of paint lingering on your skin.

it was 9:00am the next day and leehan was quick to text you.

“good morning, pretty”

you sigh, “hi leehan”

“no nickname yet?”

“dont get too ahead of yourself now…”

“fine fine.. but anyways, i already know exactly where we’re going on our second date”

“and where is that?”

“an AQUARIUM !!! isn’t that so cute”

you giggle at his excitement before catching and recollecting yourself.

“it is cute😭 i’ve never been to one”

“you’re in for the time of your life, y/n. saturday. 3pm. be there or be square. (i’m picking you up again so you WILL be there)

you hearted his message and turned in your bed, heart fluttering just a little bit.

leehan picked you up right at 3:00 on saturday, just like he said he would.

"ready to meet some fish?" he asked with a grin as you got into the passenger seat.

"depends. are we talking finding nemo or jaws?"

he laughed. “you’ll see.”

the ride there was filled with the kind of banter that had started to come naturally. you realized you didn’t feel as tense around him anymore.. or maybe you just got better at hiding it

the aquarium was quiet on this particular day, with soft lighting and the occasional echo of children’s footsteps bouncing off the walls. the two of you wandered around slowly, stopping at each tank, mesmerized by the marine life behind the glass.

at the jellyfish exhibit, leehan leaned close, whispering, “they kinda remind me of you”

you squinted at the tank, “see through and spineless?”

he giggled, “no! i meant, like… weirdly captivating. in a non-creepy way…”

you laughed, failing to hide your amusement.

as you stood in front of the shark tank, he grew a little quieter. the deep blue glow cast shadows across his face, softening him in a way you hadn’t seen before. you quickly snapped a photo from behind and made a mental note to show him later.

“when i was a kid,” he said, “i used to beg my parents to take me to places like this. i thought if i could just find somewhere quiet with big things swimming past me, i’d stop feeling so small.”

you didn’t know what to say. his vulnerability caught you off guard and for a second, you weren’t sure if you wanted to brush past it or sit with it.

“you’re not small now,” you said finally.

he glanced at you, “only when you look at me like that”

you hadn’t realized you had been staring.

the ride home was quieter, but not awkward. a thoughtful and safe silence.

when he pulled into your driveway, he didn’t immediately say goodbye.

“i don’t know what i’m doing, by the way,” he admitted.

“with me?”

“with all of this. you make me nervous. but i’m trying.”

you nodded, your hand on the door handle. “trying is good.”

he waited until you were inside again, like always

for your third, and perhaps final date with leehan, he told you to dress comfortably.

you didn’t know if that meant sweatpants and a hoodie or a simple dress, so you opted for asking him what he’s wearing.

“leehan what are you wearing”

“a hoodie & some jeans, why what’s up”

“i didn’t know what you meant by comfortable”

“comfortable is whatever you find comfortable, y/n😭”

“IDK LEEHAN😭😭😭”

he picked you up around 6:15, as the sun was slowly beginning to set. you stepped outside to find him leaned against the passenger door of his car, hair messy, and snacks piled on the dashboard in a grocery bag.

“you ready?” he asked.

“for?”

he opened the passenger door for you. “the most amazing cinematic experience of your life… and a half eaten box of cookies”

“how romantic” you roll your eyes playfully.

leehan drove just out of town and pulled into a wide gravel lot lined with cars. you saw some couples already curled up in their trunks or lounging with the windows down. leehan parked near the middle, far enough from the screen that the movie felt atmospheric, but not consuming

he popped the trunk and dropped the backseats, taking out a couple of pillows and a soft blanket from a bag. “get in, we’re making a nest.”

you climbed in, settling into the surprisingly warm space as he joined you and spread out the snacks: two sodas, a bag of popcorn, his half eaten cookies, and a sleeve of sour candy you’d mentioned liking weeks ago and had forgotten all about.

you raised an eyebrow. “you remember random things”

he shrugged. “i listen.”

the movie started and it was something vaguely romantic and probably bad. neither of you were really watching it. you sat shoulder to shoulder, passing the candy back and forth, knees brushing, and cringing at the cheesy plotline

halfway through, leehan started talking again, except not about the movie, but about you.

“you know what sucks?” he said suddenly. “i was so sure you hated me when we first met.”

“i did,” you replied, deadpan

he laughed, but there was something a little shaky behind it. “yeah, i know. but i think it made me want to prove something. not like… win you over or whatever. just to show you i wasn’t the guy you thought i was.”

you didn’t say anything and just watched the light flicker across his face from the screen in front of you.

“and i know i talk too much,” he added, suddenly picking up speed, “and i tend to overthink everything, especially when i’m nervous, which is basically whenever i’m around you, so right now, actually, in case that’s not clear—”

you leaned over and kissed him. it was soft and a little sudden.

he froze for half a second, then kissed you back. slower, steadier, one of his hands curling gently around your hoodie sleeve like he wasn’t sure if he could hold on tighter.

when you pulled away, he blinked at you.

“i forgot what i was saying”

“good, you DO talk too much” you whispered.

he let out a nervous breath and leaned his arm gently against yours. you stayed like that for a moment, the movie still playing and the lot still buzzing with low laughter and muffled dialogue, but all you could feel was his warmth beside you.

later, after the credits rolled and he drove you home, the silence between you wasn’t awkward. it was heavy with something unspoken, yet mutual.

he parked outside your apartment and turned toward you, fingers still lightly drumming on the steering wheel.

“so… do i get a fourth date?”

you looked at him, half-smiling.

“hmm i might have to think about that”

“do you want me to beg on my knees? because i’ll do it”

“lovely offer, but you don’t need to !”

you opened the door to leave, pausing halfway out

“i’ll text you,” you said

“or you could just come with me everywhere all the time for the rest of my life maybe perhaps”

you rolled your eyes. “bye, leehan”

but you were smiling when you closed the door.

part two!

4 years ago, kim leehan moved into your town and started going to school with you. at first you thought he seemed nice, but within a month of him joining your class, your mind was immediately changed.

because he was attractive, all the girls in your classes constantly flocked around him or tried to get his attention which in turn made the boys befriend him to try and get a sliver of the attention put onto them. unfortunately for you, leehan was in all of your classes.

you weren’t the type to want to be different from everyone else, but you simply weren’t interested in the way leehan acted. he just seemed to be cocky because of all the attention he recieved constantly and that bothered you. of course, you never voiced your opinions on him, so they never created any problems.

that is until leehan himself began to notice that you never paid much mind to him.

one day, after your lunch period, you stopped at your locker. you told the friends you were walking with that they could head back to class while you grabbed your water bottle. as you closed your locker, you jumped a little after seeing leehan leaning with his back on the lockers next to yours.

“hi y/n”

“hi leehan”

he turns his body towards you, “i feel like we never actually talk to each other”

“we don’t usually have a reason to”

“do you not want to talk to me?”

“not really”

you start walking towards your class and he follows next to you.

“aw why not”

you ignore him and sit back in your seat.

after that interaction, you always caught leehan looking at you from the corner of your eye. he would always tend to be around you whether it was in class, the hallways or even during your lunch periods and your friends especially took notice to this.

“i swear i see that leehan kid everywhere lately”

you nod your head, “i know, i feel like i can’t escape him”

“and he’s always looking at you. i wonder if he likes you or something” your friend smirks

you shudder at the thought, “oh please he has enough girls on his roster”

months go by and leehan was still constantly hovered around you. one day, you had enough. because his locker was only a couple down from yours, you took extra long to put things away into yours to see if he would do the same. just as you suspected, he also stood at his for extra long. as the hallways began clearing up, you walked over to his locker.

“why are you everywhere, why do i keep seeing you everywhere”

“what do you mean?” he smiles

“come on leehan. ever since that day i told you i didn’t wanna talk to you, you started hovering around me everywhere i go. why are you doing that”

“you noticed ?”

“well no shit, you went from being nowhere near me to suddenly always near me”

“i don’t know.. i wanna get closer to you, you know, become friends. i just didn’t know how to go about it”

“so you started following me around..”

“well that wasn’t the plan”

“right.. okay well, stop doing that. if you wanna be friends just come up and talk to me, i won’t punch you for that”

“what would you punch me for?” he starts giggling

“freak” you walk away, rolling your eyes

as the year progressed, leehan began talking to you more and more. he would ask for help on homework and even try to partner up with you for projects (which you would usually turn him down for). everything he did felt platonic to you and you were completely platonic back. you still didn’t really like the way he acted anyway.

the end of the school year came quicker than you expected and the summer before your first year in college began (of course, you and leehan ended up committing to the same uni)

on the first day of your summer break, you woke up from a nap to a chain of texts from your friend.

are you going to the party tomorrow night? you try and rub some sleep away from your eyes,

what party?

leehan’s grad party, he invited us the day before graduation?

did he?

maybe it was when you fell asleep in stats

oh.. probably

so you going?

i don’t know, we’ll see

as you hit send and were about to put your phone down, it lit up again. this time it was leehan.

you’re coming tomorrow right? you never rsvp’d but your friends are coming so..

feeling a little guilty, you hesitated a little before replying, yeah i’ll try my best, sorry for not rsvping😭

you got out of bed, sighing.

the next night, you decided to carpool with some friends. you wore a simple floral dress with a sweater on top. from the moment you stepped into the party, you felt like you needed to leave, but unfortunately, leehan saw you walk in.

he walked over and smiled at you and your friends. “thank you guys for coming!”

your friends began spreading around the room and as you looked for a place to sit, leehan came and sat next to you.

“you look pretty”

“thanks”

“was the drive bad?”

“no, not really”

the silence between the two of you was very loud

“do you not wanna be here?”

you sigh, “i’m just tired, didn’t sleep much last night”

“ahh i see, i’ll let you be then”

he did not in fact let you be. 20 minutes later, he came and sat next to you again.

“you look bored”

“i am a little bit”

“where’d your friends go?”

“not a clue, i haven’t seen them since we got in”

there was a pause before leehan replied, “can i talk to you outside for a second?”

“uhh sure?”

the two of you got up and he led you out of his house and onto his deck. you lean on the railing of the deck.

“i have to tell you something” leehan began

“what’s up”

he paused, “i like you”

you blankly stared at him before you realized he wasn’t exactly joking around.

“you don’t mean that” you scoff. “you have an entire roster of girls you could turn to. you’re only interested in me because i’m not waiting in line for you”

leehan’s gaze shifted. “please y/n you have to believe me, i’ve really never felt like this for anyone else in my entire life”

“do you really expect me to believe that?”

“no? yes? i don’t know.. please can you just give me a chance?” he sighs and looks away and you notice him wipe his eye.

“three dates. just go on three dates with me and if after them, you really don’t want to be with me, i’ll move on. but if you say no or if in the middle you back out, i’m going to keep trying to win you over. what do you think?”

you think his offer over for a minute and sigh, “fine.”

he gives you a small smile.

wonbin and y/n had officially been dating for just over a month now, and it felt like they were falling into a comfortable rhythm together. wonbin’s apartment had become a familiar second home to y/n, and they loved spending nights wrapped in his arms, feeling safe and cherished.

one particular morning, after a night of talking until 2am even though they knew y/n had work early in the morning, y/n stirred awake from the warmth of the sun streaming through the curtains. they glanced at the clock and realized that they were running a bit late for work. carefully sliding themself out from wonbin’s embrace, they tiptoed around his room to gather their things quietly.

wonbin, who was usually a light sleeper, shifted and mumbled something in his sleep, his arm moving around feeling y/n’s empty side of the bed. y/n was slipping socks onto their feet as he blinked sleepily, a soft smile spreading across his face when he saw them. "morning," he murmured, his voice still raspy from sleep.

y/n turned around, feeling a slight blush tint their cheeks at being caught. "hey," they replied softly, trying not to wake him fully.

wonbin sat up slowly, leaning against the headboard and rubbing his eyes. "you know," he began, his tone casual yet meaningful, "you can leave a toothbrush here if you want."

y/n’s heart skipped a beat at his words. It was such a small gesture, but it meant the world to them. to them, it meant that he wanted her to feel at home in his space, to feel like they belonged there as much as he did.

they smiled warmly at him, their eyes sparkling with affection. "i’d like that," they said softly, their voice filled with unspoken happiness.

wonbin returned their smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "good," he replied simply, his voice holding a hint of playfulness now. "i'll make sure there's enough space for it in the bathroom."

y/n chuckled softly, “yeah like your 5 different cleansers can’t be moved” reciprocating his playfulness. they finished gathering their things and walked over to where wonbin was sitting on the edge of the bed. leaning down, they pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. "thank you," they whispered, their breath warm against his skin.

he turned his head to capture their lips in a sweet, lingering kiss. when they finally pulled apart, wonbin brushed a stray strand of hair away from y/n's face. "anytime," he murmured, his gaze locked with theirs.

as y/n headed out the door, they couldn't stop the smile that spread across their face. they knew that leaving a toothbrush at wonbin’s place wasn't just about convenience; it was a symbol of their growing bond, a sign that they were building something special together.

and as they walked down the street towards their work, they couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky. lucky to have found someone like wonbin, who made them feel cherished and loved in ways they had never experienced before. with each step, they looked forward to the future they were creating—one toothbrush at a time.

loves walking you to your classes, especially in the winter and fall time because it gives him an excuse to nonchalantly hold your hand :’)
