           ---“I am happy,” he says, so quickly the words seem to blend together into rasping static. He’s happy, of course he is, but he’s not used to dealing with this. Part of him worries, perhaps needlessly, that he’ll lose his brother, despite the fact that his brother had never lost him in all of his crushes and love affairs. 

“I’m happy and I’m proud of you, you know,” he says, trying to offer his brother a cracked-lipped smile.
