“Yes, but its usually not in my room. You really didn’t feel like escaping once? I would have gone stir crazy if I were you.”
“Well, I wanted to but it was part of an assignment that my professor gave me. The first day was hard, but i just began drawing and painting and then everything that wanted to leave was happy.”
“ i feel like i have to do that all the time. ”
“Yes! Finally, someone who is understanding me. What is your major, my fine fellow?” He asked curiously.
“Not really, that would probably make me feel worse, but I am glad you’re feeling better, man”
“Why though?” He asked curiously. “You never just want to get away from some people?”
“Yeah. Piano and guitar, but I mostly sing.”
“Wow! That’s amazing. I play the guitar as well. Only for fun though.”
“Your an artist?” Becca smiled, ”That’s awesome if you enjoyed it. I just don’t think personally I could do it.”
“Yeah, there’s a small handful of people that I feel can do this.” He said, his english accent coming out a bit thicker. “But to each their own, right?”
“Well hey, whatever works for you. I’m sure the art you got done is beautiful. I always end up locking myself in my room to work on music.”
“Yes? You play an instrument?”
“Oh god, I don’t think I ever could. I’m way to talkative.”
“I love talking, but once i’m in my art and drawing or painting, I am focused and I needed it really. It was a task one of my professors had us do. I enjoyed it very much.”
“That’s pretty much all I do. Glad you finally crawled out of your hole.”
“It’s great! I wouldn’t even call it a hole really, just a... um.. new living arrangement for a little?”
“You know, I may have spent a week locked up in my room, but I feel revived and have gotten a lot of my art done so i’d say it was worth isolating myself from everyone for a bit. You ever feel that you need to do that to just feel a little better?”
“Did you know we actually live about 80 milliseconds in the past, because that’s how long it takes our brain to process information? So basically, our bodies are in the present while our brains are in the past.”
“Where did you learn about that?”

Farrah made note of his politeness, it was seemed almost foreign to her when she compared him to the other boys she usually encountered on campus. It was refreshing. She shook her head, a slightly titter escaping her, “I’m not offended, I promise I’ve got tough skin.”
A hand reached up to her mouth to conceal her laughter. She couldn’t help but think his imitation of Americans were adorable. Mostly because it sounded so quintessentially country. “I do?” She asked, glancing at him a mixture of amusement and curiosity setting in on her delicate features. “That’s interesting.” She mused, trying to think of herself talking.
“I don’t know, I would say you got us beat on the pretty scale but we make some pretty cool stuff in lab.” She countered, playfully. “What’s your favorite piece you’ve ever done?” She asked, idly popping one last forkful of rice into her mouth before ridding herself of the styrofoam plate that was previously on her lap.
Ethan nodded and smiled, listening to her talk was very interesting and fun. While he thought he’d heard enough people talk in America to the point where he can easily learn their accent and do it back without being awful at it, he was terribly mistaken. “No worries, your accent is nice as well.” He said as he looked over at her. “I think that one day you can show me how to make something blow up, you know? Like you guys are always doing.” He said with a chuckle and shrug.
Moving himself closer to her, he flipped through his drawing and had a few of the pages folded in slightly so that he could reference back to them. Flipping through the previously folded edges of the cream paper, he finally reached his favorite. “This one I think is my favorite.” He said, showing the blonde his drawing of a bird/human and the detail that went into it. “A lot of my drawing take time and detail and meaning behind it, but this one means a lot to me and so I took even more time and tried putting in as much effort whilst I could, you know?”

“It’s only because I’m tall,” She giggled in response. That and she was an avid gym goer coupled with her kid like metabolism. It was a natural response for people to reach for her arm. It was actually so tiny her friends hands could completely go around and overlap slightly. “Genetics has a lot to do with it too, my mom is really tiny.” She said, taking another bite. Although she indulged every once in a while Farrah would like to think she usually ate very healthily too, so there were many contributing factors.
“Really?” She asked curiously, her intonation fluctuating slightly. “I know but to us you’re like a unicorn.” Honestly she could listen to him talk all night and not have one complaint. “Yes, my A has some credit to you,” She played along. Curiously, her blueish green hues followed his movements, a wave of excitement washing over her at his question, “Of course,” She replied sitting up more attentively. She gasped at the flower that’s petals looked like fire her eyes studying the details of his artistry, “these are beautiful,” She cooed, thoroughly impressed.
Nodding his head while listening and eating at the same time he smiled. “I’m sorry if I offended you, I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I think you look great either way, you know.” He said feeling as though the way he said it was rude. He knew that sometimes when someone comments on body image it can be taken in the wrong way. “Also, it’s not just a small arm, it’s muscle. I gotta let my brothers know that you’ve got nice biceps and to watch out!” He said with a chuckle and wiped his mouth before placing the empty plate on the ground.
“Really. These New York people up here talk like ‘eh let’s go get some hot dawgs’” He attempted at a New York accent but terrible failed and began laughing, throwing his head back slightly. “You know what I mean, but yours isn’t like that at all actually. I like yours. You say your r’s weird.” He said with a smile while admiring her. Watching her look at his drawings with wide eyes made him a lot happier. He watched as her gaze reached the flower and he rubbed his head. “Yeah, some are a little bit weird” he said referring to the eyeball. “but I don’t know, I get an image and draw it.” Ethan watched her flip through the book before grabbing it back. “Thank you, a little better then chemistry, yeah?” He said playfully.

“Oh burgers,” She marveled, “Can’t live without those Big Macs” She said with a giggle although there was nothing but truth behind that statement. Farrah was impressed by his cookie, had much more depth than hers. It was short and sweet and inspirational. “I like that one,” she noted leaning her self back slightly against the foot of the bed.
“Maybe?” She giggled, “I would love to have your accent. I mean, I have an accent but it’s not really the coolest.” She said, playing with her food a bit. Farrah was usually oblivious to when guy’s complimented her, but she had picked up on it and found herself blushing, once more. “Well, you kind of sat in my favorite seat and I didn’t want to ask you to move so..” She joked, it would have been completely out of character to do such a thing. “I still want to see one of your paintings though, I haven’t forgotten.”
Ethan threw his head back and laughed at her big mac comment and then looked down at her. “Are you kidding?! You’re so small, i’m surprised you fit in three meals!” He joked with a smirk and grabbed her arm gently. “I swear, it’s crazy. Where does it all go?” He said as he laughed once more. She was so small, which he was not judging her for. But he just couldn’t see how she could eat junk food, or a lot of food in general and stay so small.
“I like your accent. It’s different from other American accents i’ve heard. I don’t know I have much of an accent, really. I mean, I know it’s different from here. But back home it’s normal, you know? Just like no one here thinks they have an accent but they surely do.” he rose his eyebrows and smiled. Taking a bite of his food, he was now halfway through and looked over at the beautiful blonde in beside him. “Oh you are glad I was able to occupy that seat for you. How else would you have studied so well? Yeah?” He said jokingly and then nodded at her comment. I have a few drawings here, would you like to see?” He asked as he dug out his art notebook and handed it to her. Showing many pictures like this and this.

“Oh, no” Farrah giggled at the thought. She loved chicken in any way shape or form- be it curried, baked, broiled, grilled–every kind but the fried kind. “I did try to be vegan once for 20 days. It wasn’t so bad.” she said having opened the plastic, cracking the cookie open. “I missed eggs more than I missed meat.” Looking up from the paper she hadn’t read yet she laughed as he indulged her in a comical act. “What’d it say?” She asked curiously, as her blueish gaze fell on the positive yet vague words presented on the paper. “Something good comes your way.” She read aloud before turning it over to see her lucky numbers along with the chinese word of the day.
Nodding at his gentleman act, Farrah had dished out a serving of white rice and general tso chicken. Sitting herself down with the plate on the ground, she politely waited for Ethan to join her before starting to eat. She tugged at the tiny slit in the small packet of soy sauce before pouring it over the rice, scooting over slightly as he rejoined her. “I think it was your accent. It’s like a magnet for sorority girls.” She giggled, scooping up a forkful of rice and taking a bite.
Ethan chuckled at her reaction to him asking her if she were vegetarian. He, too, loved the taste of meat. “Oh, nope. I wouldn’t even try it. That just seems crazy to me, you know? I love bacon, burgers, chicken. All of it, and I couldn’t give all of that up.” He said shaking his head, really speaking truly. “That’d be like asking me to give up my first born child and I would never do that.” He said with a playful grin before looking back down at the small sliver of paper that seemed to hold his future. “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.” he spoke softly and then shrugged in satisfaction. “I really like this one, I think i’ll keep it.” He said folding it and placing it in his pocket with a grin. Watching her read his eyes he smiled at her. “That sounds pretty good to me.” Ethan said before taking a bite of his food.
As Ethan poured his soy sauce on the rice he was about to devour, he laughed and looked beside him as the blonde. Raising an eyebrows and then looking back down. “You think so? I mean, maybe.” He said without being able to get the smile off of his face. “Lucky I got to study with this sorority girl though.” He said softly with a small nudge and kept his eyes down before taking a bite of his orange chicken and rice.
Teegan was taken aback by his kindness. She nodded quickly, “Well I can’t find any Hemmingway in this library, but other than that I think I’m adjusting just fine.”
“Hm.. Hemmingway? I am sort of new to this library but i’m going to go and guess it’s that way? I can help you if you’d like.”
Chinese Takeout|| Farrah & Ethan
Farrah had waved him off, showing that it was no big deal she payed. It didn’t even occur to her that he would want to pay for their next meal together. Once they got to her room, which was clean and in order as it usually always was, she shut the door behind them. She was the only girl in the house with her own room and bathroom. Perks of having the highest cumulative GPA in the sorority. Walking over to the desk she usually studied at she set down the brown paper bag that was enclosed in a white plastic bag, unknotting it and peering in as well.
“I’m just always so eager to know my fortune” She replied, a smile on her lips. She’d always opened it before– even as a kid. That was maybe the one and inly time Farrah consistently displayed impatience. “Well,” She started, as she reached into the bag, it made a bit of a crunching noise as she pulled out the various containers. “Spring Rolls and Veggie rolls,” She set it down, “General Tso and Chicken Broccoli,” She placed it next to the other containers, “Kung Pao shrimp, white rice, fried rice and vegetable Lo Mein. I wasn’t sure if you were vegetarian or not” Scooping her hair behind her ears from blocking her view, she looked further into the bag and fished out the two fortune cookies that had fallen to the bottom. “Think fast” She called, tossing it gently to him. “You can totally wait till after, don’t let me rush you.” She said, as she pinched at the plastic to open the tiny plastic that encased the cookie.
Ethan lay his head back and rose his eyebrows as she began naming off the food that she had gotten just for the two of them. Laughing, Ethan scrunched his nose slightly and shook his head. “Nope, I am not a vegetarian, I enjoy eating meat. Which I am sorry if you are a vegetarian and I just offended you.” He said squinting his eyes and standing up near her to help sort out the good and plated. Grabbing the cookie he had tossed her, he thought for a second before smiling and letting off a light shrug as he began ripping apart the plastic wrapping and took a deep breath as if it were the toughest cookie to open with a grin. “Man is this hard or what?” He asked looking over at the girl before eventually breaking it in half and reading in his head the cookie’s saying and smiling down at it. Stuffing the small piece of paper in his pocket, Ethan then began standing back and allowing the lady in front of him to take the first serving. “Ladies first.”
Once Farrah had gotten her food, Ethan then grabbed his food and took a little bit of everything to try out the things he didn’t know about. Sitting down where he once was before he stood up, Ethan leaned back and ate a few bites before looking at her. “So your sisters down there, they stare often when someone comes over? I felt a bit hot with all of their eyes on me.” He said with a chuckle.
