For clarity: Cooking meats like chicken to the appropriate internal temperature of 165F/74C already kills listeria dead, so raw meat is safe in this context.

The recall is based around BrucePac, a cooking and processing facility that prepares chicken for readymade/frozen/prepared meals, like chicken salad, frozen foods, things like that. The already-cooked chicken was cross-contaminated with listeria from the raw stuff. When you cook them, you're not getting them back up to 165 again, so that's where it's dangerous

TLDR: raw meat (that you've cooked) is safe, prepped meat and ready meals aren't. Stay safe out there
