His finger tapped on the table, as he waited for his order to be ready. He was almost leaving the place, because he was having a hard time to wait. The thing was that they weren’t even taking that long, yet he was being completely impatient. He wasn’t usually someone like that, but when he wasn’t in a good mood, waiting for anything, usually felt like forever, no matter how long it was taking. The fact that he wanted to get his order and leave as soon as he could, was another reason why he was in such a hurry. He was distracted, so when he heard someone’s voice, at first not only he didn’t recognize who it was from, but he didn’t even hear what she said, “I’m sorry?” he blinked a few times, and after a moment realized who was talking to him, “I didn’t hear what you said, sorry.”
averyxchopra:
Her brows furrowed softly. “What’re you apologizing to me for?” Dark eyes scanned his face. She soon her head and sighed softly. Part of her didn’t understand fully what he must be going through. She’d been an only child growing up; While she had close friends, she never had any siblings. Then again, she thought about Rion. He was the closest she had to a brother and the thought of something similar happening to him… For a moment, she couldn’t breathe. “I’m so sorry, Daniel,” she whispered. Them talking about Alex broke her heart. After Abi’s sick spell and then now this, the kid has only really gotten to see her mom for a total of four days. She had no idea what the girl must be going through. All she knew was that Alex wanted her mom. “I think Atlas was just going to tell her that she’s sick. She… She could wake up any day now and those two will be reunited. Everything’s going to be okay.” She hoped so. She really, really hoped so. Avery shook her head. “Hey, don’t be hard on yourself. You two fought; But she’s going to come back and you two will be able to talk again. Okay?”
“For having to deal with this, I know just how terrible it is,” he knew that it wasn’t the same, Abi was his sister, while Avery was her friend, but he didn’t think that pain was something that should be measured. Just because he most likely was closer to her, that didn’t mean that he was suffering more than she was, pain was pain, “I know you are,” he gave her a weak smile, he always appreciated when people showed that they felt for him when something happened, but he never knew how to answer to it. There wasn’t a right way to do it, was there? He doubted that there was anything he could say that would truly show just how thankful he was. Even if it may seem something small, it was still thoughtful, “Yeah, she’s really strong,” he stroked the back of his head, he was trying to be positive, but he was freaking out internally. He was over thinking too much, “But it was my fault, and over something so silly and petty. It’s my fault that we didn’t talk, I was ignoring her.”

Location: Lunch Box - Claret Park
After his shift was finished for the day, Sunny found himself at one of his favorite sandwich shops in Claret Park, as he had been too busy on his shift to stop for lunch. He placed his order and moved to an empty table to wait for it. A moment later heard the door open and noticed a figure walk inside the shop who looked vaguely familiar from the back, but he couldn’t place where he knew him from until he turned around. He smiled when they made eye contact, recognizing each other.
“Dan the man. What’s up, dude?” he said. Daniel was someone Sunny had known when he lived in Pueblo. Their families were well acquainted, having met a few times at a popular campground in the area where Sunny’s parents brought them at least once a year. He had been surprised when he first found out he lived there, as he may have been the only familiar face he knew. He pushed out an empty chair to offer it to him. “How did you get so much taller than me, man? I remember when you were about yay high.” he held his hand close to the ground and gave a chuckle. There was a bit of an age gap between them that was more noticeable when they were kids. “So, what brings you to this side of town?” he asked.
With the mood that he was in, it was hard to even prepare food, so he decided to go to the lunch box, but it wasn’t something that he planned to do every day. He knew that he had to continue to live his life, and don’t let the sadness take over, but it was easier said than done. He was trying his hardest for his sister, he could hear her voice ringing in his head, telling him to not let the sadness win, that he was stronger than that. She was practically the only reason why he got up in the morning.
Ella could always cheer him up, but this time not even she could do it. It was why he wasn’t sure if running into his childhood friend, was a good or a bad thing. He found him in a really bad moment in his life, but maybe he would be able to distract him, “Sunny, you didn’t tell me you moved here,” he managed to give him a small smile, but it was mostly just to be polite, “Puberty, it was easy to be taller when you’re older,” he pointed out, but he honestly wasn’t exactly considered tall for men’s standards, which he didn’t mind. He didn’t think being short was that bad, “Hunger, I wasn’t feeling like preparing my own lunch, so here I am, how about you?”
sadie-gibson:
“
“He’s not that bad, in all honesty.” she told him with a shrug. “I just like to tease him about his age, but it’s only out of love.”The truth was both of her parents meant the world to her, having taken her out of the dangerous world that was living with her biological mother. She scarcely remembered it, being only two years old when she was adopted, but blood-related or not, her parents were her family. A glow touched her eyes when she heard him mention his job. “A firefighter! That explains the muscles then,” her hand reached out to squeeze his arm in a gentle but playful way. Sadie had always been attracted to firefighters, so if she had the opportunity to flirt with one and see where it might lead, she wouldn’t pass it up.
She was glad when he agreed to a drink at least. Things were looking up for her in what probably would have been a very dull evening of returning home to try to work on the fashion blog and it’s updates until she passed out. “That would be great. I don’t have much else going on,” she told him as they continued down the path towards the parking lot. She spotted her small car. a yellow Volkswagen Beetle. “Do you have your car here?” she asked him, knowing that if he did, he probably wouldn’t want to leave it in the park. “Can I trust you not to stand me up, if we meet some place? Otherwise, you’re more than welcome to jump in with me.” she told him with a smile.
“What’s fun in being close to someone, when we can’t tease them?” he always played around with his friends and his family. He knew what to joke about and what was off limits, so they never actually got bothered by anything that he said, it was why he was careful when he did it with someone that he didn’t know a lot about, since he knew that he could end up offending them, “Well, partly it’s because of it, but I always had muscles,” he smirked at her, flexing his arm to show off. He was pretty proud about it, not that he thought people should always be in shape, but he felt better when he was, “You can touch them all you want,” he didn’t mind the attention, he liked it.
“Lucky me,” he smiled at her, he would probably spend the rest of his day at home, with his dog, and at night if someone invited him to go out, he would hang out with his friends. But now he was sure that he would really have a fun night, “Yeah, but we could always go on yours and I can come back tomorrow to pick it up, or tonight if you change your mind, and I have to go back home,” he teased her, but he knew it wasn’t impossible, he also wouldn’t blame her for it, she had every right, “I wouldn’t ever do that,” he assured her, he would only change his plans if it was an emergency, but he would let her know.

He nodded and laughed. “I get that. I kinda did the same here and there in college.” More or less with one person, but still. “Firefighter, huh? That’s pretty interesting.” He never considered that like most kids, but it was definitely a hardcore job. “I’m a archaeologist and just got on to be the humanities professor at the local university.” Nate explained. “Really? Nice. London’s pretty great. I was there during the beginning of the year.”
“I try not to let it get the best of me, but I’m only human,” he wouldn’t deny that there were times it was hard to feel motivated to do some things, but he tended to be really good at fighting back the urge to just leave it to the next day, “Yeah, I like it,” he had his dream job, he couldn’t imagine his life as anything else, “Oh, that’s cool, my dad is one too, and my sister majored in it,” he was never interested enough in it to follow the same path though, “Really? Did you enjoy your time there? I loved growing up in London.”
evelynnoelle:
It had been an incredibly successful day for Evelyn on the work front. After being handed a case of a house that had been deemed ‘unsellable’ due to its history, the young real estate agent had managed to secure a buy within two weeks of being given the responsibility. She finished up the buying contract before she left work and found herself The Jagged Yard for a drink. Eve could spend her time pretending she needed an excuse to drink when in reality, it was her comfort.
Walking to the bar, Evelyn waited for the bartender with a smile. “Hi, I’ll get two fingers of four roses whiskey, please.” She ordered before glancing to see she’d wound up stood next to someone. “And whatever yourself and they want. I’m feeling generous tonight.” She offered, turning to the person next to her to wait for them to accept or decline the offer.
When he went to the bar, he didn’t drink more than he should, at least usually, but it was really tempting to get drunk that night, due to what he was going through. Deep down, he knew that it was definitely a bad idea, because when he got drunk, he had no filters at all, but he wanted to forget about his problems for at least one night. The fact that someone was willing to pay for his drink, was an even bigger temptation, but at least he wasn’t tipsy yet, so it should be fine, “How sweet of you, seems like you had a really good day,” he couldn’t think about another explanation, people rarely just paid someone’s drink out of nowhere.
benji-scott:

Benji had wanted a dog for as long as he could remember and it had been a battle for a while. His life wasn’t made for a dog but then he thought about them in cages and felt like despite all the movement and travel, he could do better for them than a cage. If he had his way, he’d take four out and just give them the life with as many new experience as they could have. “I think so and they know that I’ve been itching for it. It might secretly be a test drive.” As of right now, he liked it but he was home and that was just one part of his day to day life. “What’s your dogs name?”
A dog was a big responsibility, some saw them as a toy, but those people, shouldn’t have a dog at all or any pet. They weren’t just things you could play with and leave them somewhere until you feel like doing it again. They needed attention, food, water, they were almost like kids, and if one doesn’t see them that way, they shouldn’t adopt one, “Oh, nice, I guess that’s the best way to figure out if you can handle it,” it was better than adopting one and then giving it back when things didn’t work out. They had feelings, and they would most likely feel abandoned, no matter how long you had them, “Her name is Ella.”
samaraluis:

She had to agree that it was the good side of things. Her situation could be a lot worse and she could have been thrown out without anything. Sam had just been smart to grab her things when she heard the front door unlock. “You’re right. I can’t complain.” The brunette said despite being annoyed at the whole situation. She’d asked the girl but obviously she had failed to disclose that she was in a relationship. “I met a girl at a bar and she told me that she was single and her roommate was out of town so we should go back to her place. Her roommate was her fiance that she failed to tell me about until I met him while crawling out of bed.”
“I mean, you can complain, just because your problem is ‘smaller’, doesn’t mean you can’t be annoyed by it,” he made sure to put some air quotes on the word smaller, because he tried not to measure problems, “But thinking positive, is a method I use to feel a little better,” he never complained, but it had to do with the fact that he disliked talking about how he felt, it had nothing to do with whether he thought that he should or not do it, “I hate when people do that. It’s not only unfair with their partner, but with the one they’re sleeping with. I wouldn’t ever sleep with a taken person if I knew they weren’t single.”
bennett-miller:

“Yeah, I never had that problem. Makes me feel guilty when I see people that do.” He could admit that he had always known wealth. He’d been raised in a home where he’d had more than he’d needed in every sense of the manner. There wasn’t a day he’d that he had lacked anything and he hoped to carry on the same tradition to his own child. It was an unfair system, but all he could do was help and support those who needed it the most. “Well, I think I could use a little more practice when it comes to keep up with stuff. I’ve struggled long enough with that iPad and every app on it.” He was learning though, despite his complaints, he was doing much better than many in his department and other departments around him. “Stanford.” God, he really did sound like someone with money. “It was only for med school. My wife and I committed to the same place. We had an apartment there for a little bit before we moved back here.”
“I get what you mean, but I’m going to say the same thing that my mom told me, don’t feel bad for having money, do something with it to help the ones that don’t,” he was always a giving person, so even before she said that, he already wanted to do what he could to help others. It was probably because he was raised in a house where he was taught how to be good, how to be a caring person. Maybe if he had ended up in another family, he would have ended up different, “Wait, really? You don’t seem that old,” he was used to older people struggling with technology, like someone that was older than 50, but the other didn’t seem to be that much older. If he had to guess his age, he would give him 35, definitely not more than that, “Oh, cool,” he smiled, “Despite how little you two stayed there, did you like it?”

It wasn’t James’ place to pry nor was he really interested in wanting to know someone’s story or background or whatever it is that they were going through. But his military training was so ingrained in him that he found himself inadvertently assessing the man before him. He was taught to look at signs of distress in others. The person before him certainly wasn’t in distress unless you consider broken glass and wasted beverage distressful but he seemed to be somewhat… troubled.
But James was no psychologist and he wasn’t about to strike up a conversation on trauma with a stranger while cleaning up.
“Good,” James breathed as he placed all the broken contents on the tray. The floor was sticky with the spilled beverage though one of the staff was already in the process of cleaning it up with a mop. “They’re really kind over here. I’m sure they’ll replace your drink with another, free of charge,” James said. “It’s a good thing it didn’t spill anywhere on you.” He offered the man a smile.
Usually, he tended to hide when he wasn’t in a good mood, he was actually pretty good at it, which he wasn’t sure if it was a bad or a good thing, but there were times that he was so bad, that he wasn’t capable of putting a fake smile, and just didn’t care at all who knew that he wasn’t well, because he didn’t have the energy to pretend. That didn’t mean that he would talk about it, because he probably would avoid talking about his feelings, no matter how devastate he was.
If he noticed, then he decided not to say anything, which he was glad, “I don’t want them to give me a free one, I was the one that dropped it, so I should pay for another,” it was his fault, but even if it wasn’t, he would still not be mad if he had to pay for another one, “Yeah, glass can be really dangerous.”

“I don’t think he’d planning anything.” Aaron said, looking at the guy, then looking at the man next to him, “people do go to the park for that, but most parks close at dusk, and the people in them after that–” He shrugged, “don’t really have the best of intentions.” And this guy, he thought to himself, didn’t look sober enough to be planning anything, he just wanted to see– well, what was going to come to him. People like that didn’t find situations, the situations found them.
Assuming something about someone, was something that he tried to avoid, not only because he wouldn’t want someone to do the same with him, but because he felt bad when he did it, he didn’t think was fair, “Maybe you’re right, but we don’t know if it’s the case with that guy over there or no,” he pointed out, maybe that thought would get him hurt, but to be honest, he didn’t really care, especially in that moment, “I guess we may never find out,” he wouldn’t really stay there all night investigating the guy, he would leave soon.
averyxchopra:
She gave a gentle smile before she shook her head. “I haven’t,” she admitted. “I haven’t really slept that good since I found out.” She was trying to take care of her family, she was trying to be here at the hospital for Abi, she was trying to be there for Alex. She felt as if she was all over the place and her mind was growing fuzzy. She felt fortunate to have her spouse. To have their love and help keeping her grounded, how they were watching Mars when she was at the hospital and making sure Alex and Abi’s parents were provided for. She hadn’t been sure if they’d been able to reach out to Daniel yet. So seeing him there was a relief. Avery shook her head. “I don’t think Atlas has found the right words to say.” Especially when the outcome was unpredictable. Then again, no one wanted the worst outcome to happen. And no one wanted to tell Alex what that outcome could be. Nodding, she sighed softly. She just hoped that Abi will feel ready to wake up soon. That she’ll come back to them. “How’re you doing? She… She admitted to me recently that you two hadn’t talked in awhile.”
Knowing that someone was going through the same that he was, didn’t exactly help much, because he would prefer if he was the only one. Not that it was that hard to guess, but deep down, he was hoping that everyone else that was part of her life, was being able to sleep at least more than he was. Being tired all the time wasn’t fun, “I’m really sorry,” he couldn’t do much to help, he had a hard time to think about positive comments and things to say to make someone feel better, when he wasn’t being able to think straight, “I get that, I would offer my help, but the truth is that I doubt I would be able to think about anything. There isn’t a right way to tell her this, she’s going to be hurt no matter what,” he knew it was even harder to tell a kid something like this, but he hoped he would tell her soon, because she deserved to visit her mother too, “Yeah, we haven’t, because I’m an idiot.”
Unresolved Sexual Tension, about to be resolved.

Money wasn’t necessarily an issue for Bennett. If it wasn’t coming from his account, he knew his wife would pitch in and as pathetic as it sounded, his mother would too. He knew no shortage of wealth, but he wasn’t ready to brag about that to someone he didn’t know. “Yeah, I think it’d probably cost a little bit more than your average pocket change to pull off a win.” So far though, Bennett had a clean record and had every intention of keeping it that way. “I just don’t spend enough time on it. I remember a few years ago, I could’ve probably done anything you needed me to do at the hospital. Now, interns are showing me how to use new technology and it’s making me feel old.” He’d been those interns years ago though; the younger, tech savvy intern who was teaching the residents and attendings how to use certain things. “Yeah? Have you lived a lot of places? I’ve basically been here my whole life. A few years away for school in California, but other than,” he shrugged with a soft smile. “It’s home.”
“The bad side about it, is that a lot of people end up in situations like that, and can’t do anything to get themselves out, because of how much it costs,” he knew that if it was easier to get a good lawyer, many criminals would take advantage of it, but there were innocent people that went to jail sometimes because they couldn’t prove their innocence. A lot of times it was because the person they hired, weren’t really good, others they didn’t have money to hire no one, even the cheapest one, “Don’t feel bad, it’s part of life, everything is changing and we need to constantly keep up with it, everyone deals with the same,” he assured him, he liked to think that he was a fast learner, so he was pretty good at learning about new technology and apps that were useful or fun. But if someone was a little slower, was understandable, “Not exactly, but I lived in big cities, both in England and California,” he explained, “Where did you live in Cali?”

Sam was about to tell the male off when she saw him looking at her and almost seemed stunned. Then he asked her a question that took her by surprise and for a second, she had to consider if she was getting a good vibe off of him. Frankly, she felt that she could take him if things went south and without much of another option, she nodded her head. “I swear I’m going to get my ass thrown in jail for public exposure.” People would think she was intentionally doing it but it always seemed like she got the ones who were involved with people and she was finding out at the last minute. “Sorry, this … kind of happens more than I want to admit but it’s not normally this much. I usually to have time to put my shirt or pants on beforehand.”
Once she agreed, he opened the door again, and stepped inside, inviting her to do the same, “Look at the good side, at least you’re not stuck outside butt naked,” he was speaking from experience. It happened to him before, but it wasn’t because of their partner, but because of their parent. He wouldn’t say that he never slept with someone taken though, but it wasn’t really his fault, as they lied to him and told him that they were single. When he knew the person was in a relationship, he didn’t even hit on them, “What happened anyway? Why did you have to get out in such a hurry?” he figured that asking wouldn’t harm, since she seemed to be pretty open about it. If he was wrong, he would let go.
jeremylincoln:

“Alright, good,” he said with a nod then jerked his head to their right, “let’s start off this way. I have a feeling he’s trying to head somewhere less populated.” Because Derek, even in his anger, knew he was making an ass of himself by causing a scene. It was likely that once things calmed down later that he’d admit some embarrassment over storming off and through town. “And thanks, I know you could be doing much better things with your time.” It wasn’t common that people offered to help when it came to dealing with someone that had temperamental issues. “You have any siblings?” He asked, making conversation as they walked. “This one of mine,” Jeremy pointed ahead, “he’s the youngest. We’ve got two sisters between him and me.”
“At least that way he won’t really hurt anyone,” he wasn’t just talking physically, but emotionally too. Not everyone had the power not to snap at people when they were angry or down. He tended to be pretty good at controlling himself, but he wouldn’t deny that he did snap at people before. He felt guilty right after and apologized, but it happened, “You’re not exactly wrong, but helping someone is not really a waste of time,” he pointed out, at least in his opinion. Maybe some would disagree, but it was probably because they weren’t as willing as him to help others, “I do, yeah, a younger sister,” he nodded, “Ah, the youngest, they can be a handful at times, but at least he has someone good like you to give him a good example. I’m sure with time he will learn.”
