I think what actually bothers me about the "you MUST write porn" bullshit is that it's another example of people applying, basically, religious legalism to what are ostensibly leftist/progressive principles.

This is a whole thing with me. My moral OCD is built on it (this is coming from someone who once was genuinely kept up all night by the idea that I was directly contributing to eugenics against neurodivergent people by wearing blue jeans on a day that incidentally happened to be in April) because that's what fucking happens when you try to stretch an ideology that is rooted in acceptance that there are many different ways a person can choose to live over a frame of exclusivistic, legalistic moralism.

As an example, "porn is morally neutral and attacks on porn are covert attacks on free speech" through this lens becomes "if you don't write and consume as much porn as possible you go to hell and also The Terrorists Win™" because no one on this site has unlearned the way conservatives think. This is WHY compulsory sexuality has completely destroyed sex positivity, if there was even a shred of a redeeming quality to that movement in the first place. When all you have is legalism, everything looks like a commandment.

Exerting control over other people's personal lives based on your morality is the weapon of the enemy. It doesn't matter whether you're telling them to have sex or not have sex, to be kinky or not be kinky, to consume erotic content or to avoid it at all costs. You're still poking your nose into things that aren't your business and imposing your will on people whose sex lives or lack thereof are not your business.

hi so im probably going to move because I'm entering my "fresh start on social media" era. my new main blog is going to be art (and maybe fandom meta) only, and will probably use my main url (heichaiquan). i will also be curating my experience heavily because I want literally 0 discourse/opinion posts or non-aitsf-related sex jokes on my dash so please don't take it personally if I don't follow back—id rather establish interactions on other platforms (like discord DMs) if possible.

theres a phenomenon that happens on here i have been calling "normalize loving parents posting" which is when you spend a lot of time on tumblr and are exposed to a lot of one specific counter-cultural narrative day in and day out until you start to forget what the dominant ideas are for most of the human population and thus feel the need to "defend" things that are widely accepted and popular. it's called this because of the time a bunch of text posts about shitty dads were circulating and then people with good relationships with their dad didn't feel included enough and started making "uhmmm can we normalize loving parents? not everyone has a deadbeat dad, MY dad is great" type posts, seemingly forgetting that good relationship with dad is a cultural norm that is expected and encouraged. i think its good practice, especially when im annoyed, to stop before i hit the post button and ask myself if this is a real issue or if im normalize loving parents posting. because often im about to try to normalize loving parents

in this day and age, when ads are all competing for your attention and algorithms are trying their best to make you stay on the site, it's very hard to be responsible for your own Internet experience without making significant sacrifices. in many cases you need to rely on extensions, which only certain mobile browsers can use. not every site has perfect built-in filtering and blocking tools, and i can only imagine they'll get worse as corporations replace "mute" with "snooze to get you to see more of their shit and weirdos keep protesting that having NSFW be opt-in is "censorship." if these tools are just not good enough? people's main advice is "just use a different site." which, many people just can't do. a lot of niche communities are steadfastly stuck on the site they originated on. i wish I could stop using deviantart entirely but the larger human character tf community just doesn't wanna move anywhere else. and the sacrifice i had to make to stay on there, to "be responsible for my own experience," was to only log in to post art. meaning i can't go out and engage with the community, but that's just the decision I made I guess -🌼
