Costa Rica | Kol & Eva
Eva strutted into Kol's bedroom, a bag on one arm and a bottle of whiskey in the other. She jumped onto his bed, where he lay sleeping and huffed. "The longer you lay there, darling, the less time we have to spend on the beach." She said, placing her things down and standing up. She began to go through some of his clothing, tossing what looked acceptable on top of him.
"There. I'm sure you'll look just dashing in that. Now hurry it up. I plan on being at least tipsy by the time we get there."
No, I don’t— I don’t dance.
You don't drink human blood, you don't dance-- C'mon Salvatore. Humor me.
Oh yes, I think human kind is possible of extremely terrible things, as long as it gives us what we want or if we can put the responsibility on someone else.
And what about you? Are you capable of extremely terrible things?
I prefer calling it having a different kind of fun.
I’m sure you are. Costa Rica, really? Wow, that does sound like fun. I’m sure you had the time of your life there, with all the people. Your maker’s here? Do I know him? Or her?
Hm. You'll have to show me what it is you do. Then I can decide whether or not fun is the right word.
Oh, yes. With, on, under, behind... every which way you can imagine, really. I like to experiment. He is indeed and there's a chance your paths might have crossed... he goes by the name of Kol. A charming man, with killer instincts, to say the least. He taught me all I know and then some. Of course, I hardly see the bastard these days, so I refuse to give him all the credit.
Yes, I know. But you know I’m not all too fond of that little trick.
I will take that as a compliment, yes. No but really, you have relatives here? A loved one? I mean, don’t take this the wrong way, but you didn’t exactly strike me as a small town kind of girl.
I know, I know. We've been over this. You don't like having fun anymore. I'm kidding. Kind of.
Perhaps I'm just full of surprises, Mr. Salvatore. Sometimes I even surprise myself. I've been living in Costa Rica the past few years, and let me tell you, it's a lot smaller than I'm use to. But-- quite lovely. And the people are... well, they manage to fulfill my every need, to say the least. But, if you must know, I do have a couple of friends here. One loved one, even: My maker.
Yes, there’s a lot research on the first world war, I think it’s difficult not to feel connected to the stories we read. And of course, there’s lot of publications about it this year, since it’s been exactly one hundred years.
It's intriguing, really. Men killing men just because they were told to. It shines an interesting light on humanity and what a human being is really capable of doing.
Really? Well, yes, I do. I mean, it’s not the biggest shop in town, but there’s a nice selection of everything, yes. Are you interested in history?
Certain parts of it, yes. Especially the first World War. I feel like I was there, you know?
Sometimes it feels things? A heart does that every now and then, yes.
Tell me, how long’s it been now? Thirty years? Forty?
Well you know us vampires have ways around that. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to just... flip the switch for a little while.
Now that I think about it, you're right. It's been a good thirty-five years, give or take. I can't believe I didn't pay you a visit sooner. You were always my favorite to check up on. Despite your good nature and all that. Which, you should take as a very big compliment.
You have people you like? Since when is that?
Please, I do have a heart you know. Sometimes it feels... things. Very rarely, might I add, but it happens.
Pleasure, Eva.
Well, I just closed my bookshop for the day, and I like coming down here for a drink and a good read every now and then after work. What about you?
Who cares about me? I'm more interested in hearing more about this bookshop of yours. Do you have a history section?
Oh- yes, it’s Eric. Eric Wilton, nice to meet you.
I'm Eva. It's a pleasure, Eric.
So what are you doing here all by your lonesome?
[After the initial shock of seeing Eva again, Stefan smiles before moving closer to her to hug her.] What.. What are you doing here?
As you know, there are only a few people I actually like and for some reason, they're all here.
[Stefan takes a closer look at the girl when she says his name, and suddenly it hits him.] Eva?
[Eva motions towards herself.] In the flesh. [She breaks into a mischievous smile.] Now, are you going to just stand there, or are you going to give me a hug?
Oh, alright then. Thank you.
So you got a name or what?
I’d say.. Order one.
And you wouldn't be the first. Though, it's a little hard to do when the bartender is MIA.
Wait a second. Stefan Salvatore. Well, I'll be damned. It's been a while.
Nice teddy bear.
Aren't you a little old to be playing with teddy bears?
