“Wouldn’t trade it for anything.” Jazzy grinned as her eyes danced along the water in the horizon before landing on her new companion before plopping down beside her on the dock. Her homemade anklets dangled just below her feet and skimmed the water. “There are a lot of cool things here, but this is my favorite spot. Mostly for swimming, but also the occasional pondering of the meaning of life.” she threw the other female a knowing grin. Leaning back on her hands, she continued. “Okay, fun game. If you had to chose between death by drowning or death by being thrown into the sun, which would you choose?” Her question dripped with amusement as she glanced over at Eva.
The girl smile as Jazzy took a seat next to her. She always had such a great time with the girl. “Oh we can certainly go swimming some day or honestly whenever. As long as we finish practice and whatever else we have to do.” She smiled. “Plus I’m sure we’ll look really hot in our bikinis and have a lot of people drooling.” She joked, half playing but also half serious because she knew the two of them were beautiful and were a force together. “Oh scientifically speaking I would pick the sun. It would just be a faster death therefore making it less painful. Like I would burn quickly. Meanwhile drowning takes longer so it would certainly be more painful and who wants a slow death.”
it wasn’t SO different from home. caz had chosen one of the cabins closest to the lake for that very reason. but the atmosphere at knight camp was all wrong — too high strung, too tense in a way that made him want to look over his shoulder for the knife coming for his back. at least practices were over so there’s no yelling coming from the fields, but maybe that just meant there was more focus available to put towards being at each other’s throats. it’s HARD not to miss the syrupy feel of summer ; he seems to be doing a lot of MISSING these days, he really needs to snap out of it. bare feet hit the wooden planks of the dock with a hollow sound, not deterred by the presence of someone already there. a SWIM doesn’t sound so bad right now ; there was nothing calmer than water slipping ( well, perhaps the snick of blades on ice in winter, but that’s hardly in the question now ). " yeah — i’ve always been fond of the lake, “ he agrees after a moment. caz doesn’t sit, though she makes space, simply stands at the end, toes curling just over the edge. he doesn’t move to tug off his shirt or jump in — not yet, anyway.

Eva looked up to see the boy standing there. She didn’t recognize him as part of either of the teams, so she figured he had to be some sort of volunteer. “Oh same. I’m lucky I got a cabin nearby so I can come here often. Guess I wasn’t the only one with that idea...” She chuckled. “You know...you can sit if you want. I don’t mind company. I mean nice sunset, nice girl, hopefully nice guy.” She said as she smiled up at Caz to make eye contact with him. She sure didn’t know the boy as well as she did other students, but she certainly wanted to make an effort to know him. How could she not? He was new, cute, and definitely interesting. Eva knew she would certainly enjoy talking to someone new and trying to get their attention.
Practices havent even started yet and he was already working, why did he have to get to work before anyone else? He was sat in the little office that would be his prison for the next few weeks and went over training schedules, meal plans, and tried to get the pounding of his head to stop, the hangover creeping up on him. Ian took a deep breath in and let the words on the page blur to utter nonsense. Thats when he heard footsteps, he tried to stop the eyeroll from being visible, but who knows if they saw it. “you havent been to a single day of training yet… please dont tell me youre hurt already” he asked, the words leaving his lips before he actually looked up to see the person in the doorway.

Evangeline was certainly a curious one and couldn’t wait to go around explore despite not having started practices. She was all for a good adventure, and she was sure she would run into familiar faces with the soccer and cheer team being at the site along with others. She was roaming around when she found an office and figured she would go in and see who was inside as she spotted a figure in the window. “Oh no, I’m not. Don’t worry.” She laughed. “I’m kind of just walking around and seeing who’s around. A bit of an eager beaver, I guess.”
Evangeline had finished organizing her room, practiced a bit and done her work out routines for the day so she figured it was time to enjoy herself. She was always a big fan of nature and the outdoors, so as the sun began to set she made her way over to the dock knowing she would get the best view there. The girl made her way over to the dock admiring the site as she walked. She was truly excited about an opportunity to learn and bond with her team, which she knew would only strengthen them. Of course she knew there would be distractions, but her head was in the game. She sat on the edge of the dock dangling her legs over the water as she looked up enjoying the view. It was all so peaceful to her. She heard some footsteps behind her and scoot over assuming the person had the same idea in mind. “It’s all so beautiful isn’t it. Definitely wouldn’t be able to find a view like this to watch the sunset on campus. I love it.”

so here are bullet points about eva and her life!! like this if you wanna plot yayay
tw: familial death, cancer, verbal abuse
so eva grew up in a very religious latinx family
she always had to be top of her class and excel at everything she did to make her parents proud
her father was diagnosed with cancer when she was 5 so she was immediately hit with the reality of life and death in the world
he ended up passing away when she was 10
thus her mom worked to keep their family afloat
when eva turned 15 she picked up a job to help her mom with finances for the house, food, etc
she even started storing money away for college
when she was 16 her mom met another man that soon became her step dad and eva and him did not get along
he tried showering her with money but she didn’t buy any second of it and hated the way he acted, showering his mom with affection but ignroing her and trying to buy her off with money
the only good thing eva got out of him was that he would pay for cheerleading
she would constantly go to cheer practice after school and spend hours at the gym since she hated going home when her step father was around. it would always lead to no good or sometimes even verbally abusive fights between the two
eva resented how her mother was oblivious to it and chose the man over her own daughter
as she continued to train she discovered hollis and knew she had to go. it had an incrdible cheer program and she wanted to rise to the top to get her mother’s attention again
her freshman year she joined the cheer team as a base and exceled in everything she did. im talking cheer, being active in clubs like student government, and getting As in all her classes
this was when she finally began to get attention from her parents and thus she would stop at nothing to get her mom’s attention
her sophmore year Eva began to experiment in college trying alcohol for the first time and drugs and loving the feeling it gave her
she felt free and loved it
she began going out to parties, having sex, and just living her best college life while maintaining all her academic life
this is when she dropped sga because she realized she could focus on cheerleading, rise to the top and have a killer social life
now junior year she’s captain and is so proud of her accomplishments and her team
she acts like she has the best home life and puts on a pretty innocent happy front
she doesnt like people knowing about her hook ups and personal life but if youre close to her you know
she will squash any and every rumor about her or anything that may tarnish her good girl image
she’s a v v hard worker and hates losing
she will flirt with you
