I am waiting for a very passionate confession scene between the two of them because Yato clearly loves Hiyori dearly. Look how LIVID he is. He genuinely loves her too. It’s not based on any physical attraction. Yato loves the way Hiyori makes him feel. He loves that he matters around her and to her. While he’s just in the background to everyone else or seen as a mercenary, he is seen as a person by her. She makes him feel like a person and I think that is what he loves most about her.
