Reasons why Susie Carmichael is one of the greatest Black Cartoon Characters of all time
Her character was voiced by Cree Summer who played Freddie Brooks on A Different World.
She introduced culture to white suburbia.
Taught the babies all of the popular black dances.
And maybe even showed them a thing or two about cooking.
She was perpetually unbothered by Angelicaâs nonsense.
Literally. Her shade-throwing skills surpass any other three-year-old.
But she was never afraid to cry.
Demand what she wanted.
Be a leader.
Get angry for the cause.
Defend the babies from Angelica.
Or anybody else who tried to mess with them.
Immensely talented.
And, smart AF. She could speak 10 languages by the time they were in high school.
Susie was just a magical black girl.

We need more examples to see black girls magic!
And her parents kept that head natural đđŸ
So Iâve been overwhelmed by the black panther comicon appearance and Iâve been dwelling on how revolutionary the black panther movie is going to be, what itâs going to mean to countless people when this movie comes out and how long we still have to go, So I decided to put this short photoset together to illustrate exactly how big of a deal it is and how it is bigger than one person.
itâs so bittersweet because when I was younger (especially growing up where I did, a black kid in Finland) I really wished I had more access to imagery and media that reflected who I was because it would have made my life radically different for the better and I wouldnât be at 26 (STILL) doing damage control but on the flipside, Iâm so in awe of all of the beautiful talent in 2016 that younger black kids are able to see and be inspired by.
I think I was like 4 years old when I conciously picked up race and color via watching Disneyâs âAladdinâ and I noticed how Jafar, the evil royal guards etc the villains were more ethnic looking or a shade darker than the âgoodâ characters.
itâs insidious because youâre seeing something but at age 4, you donât have the comprehension skill or knowledge to break it down and see it for what it is (Colorism, Societal bias against black people which is rooted in centuries of white supremacist doctrine, society associates things that are dark/darker colors with evil, danger, ugliness, dirt etc) and reject it.
so you pick it up and see it on a surface level and you think to yourself âwell darker must mean ugly, criminal and less humanââŠthen what happens when you look at yourself in the mirror and find out that you are black?
how is that going to impact how you see yourself?
and guess what? if a 4 year old black kid can pick that up and internalize that about him/her/themselvesâŠ.then a white kid can sponge up the same language and imagery that dehumanizes black people too (subconciously/conciously)âŠwhat happens when when these people grow up? become teachers, doctors, law enforcement etc? what kind of impact is that going to have?
Iâm going off on a tangent and thatâs just one personal example but society does that on a global grand scale and it is largely unchecked.
but honestly though, look at the photoset and think about how many talented people out there that we love and respectâŠ.who would NOT have achieved the things they did if it wasnât for another person before them inspiring them to reach their goals and acting as trail blazers when it seemed as though it was impossibleâŠ.then think about the flipside and how many people, with all the potential in the world, never lived to become great because they were met with more images dehumanizing them than ones uplifting themâŠthis is why the fight for HONEST representation is important and it continues.
argh, I didnât plan on typing anything but I got in my feelings after watching this again
âŠanyway, here are some pictures to make you smile, the next gen gives me hope
and if none of that gets you going, here is a video of Michael Jackson surprising James Brown on stage and then thanking him for being his biggest influence (BET awards, 2003)
I hate dating. I hate the way people date now. I just want to be with the person Iâm going to be with. I just want to know who Iâm going to marry and start working towards building that life together. People nowadays date recklessly. We treat each other like we are trying on shoes: no matter how well something fits we still want to see how we look in something else. I want no part of that.
That analogy though fuck
Holy shit.
God damn
this.
CNNâs Don Lemon on police shootings:Â âWhen I am stopped by an officer - I shouldnât have to be âyes,sir-ingâ anybody.â
Don Lemon lost the support of the Black community after a few controversial remarks that he made throughout his career. During yesterdayâs CNN Tonight he shared his thoughts on the killings of two Black men that occurred earlier this week and theyâre actually making everyone consider changing their mind. Letâs be honest - everything Don Lemon said was on point. I cannot help but think that until this day he was forced to say everything he said, because his words regarding police violence are pretty damn woke.

DON LEMON finally said something worth listening to. Wow.

RNC attendees tried to hide a demonstratorâs âNo racism, No hateâ sign with an American flag. Clearly they failed to see the irony. The protester was from the Code Pink group â who havenât been slowed down by this at all.
Using an American flag to cover up someone calling for an end to racism and hate is the best metaphor Iâve seen in a long time for the GOP.
white dude in this horror movie : *translates old arabic text* *somehow it rhymes perfectly in english*Â
Now I really wanna see a horrible faltering translation from one of these movies, like âWhomsoever enters this room, they shall⊠well, this word is like⊠literally it means âunbecome,â but it was used as a euphemism for death, pooping, andâwait, when was this carved?  was it 15th century? Cuz it was a euphemism for sex too in the 15th century.  This is either a cursed crypt, a bathroom, or a royal bedroom. Who wants to roll the dice?â
âYou guys, Iâve gotta be honest, okay? This thingâs written in some kind of weird localized dialect, and Iâve only ever studied the standard form of the language. I mean, this part right hereâŠI canât even tell if itâs some kind of error, or an obscure slang phraseâŠwhatever it is, I have no idea what the fuck it means.â
âthis is written in ancient sumerian. itâs about⊠uh⊠well that word is⊠uh. okay this is either a poem about farming, or straight-up a nasty sex guide. it might be both. i want a shower.â
âokay see the thing is in one dialect this word is the name of a terrifying Demon but in a completely different language from the same area that has the same writing system and gave a lot of loan words to the first, it means âhorseâ - and the context is really not helpingâ
âYou know what? This thing is bound in human skin and the walls are bleeding letâs just leave.â
Police Shoot Unarmed Man and his 6-Year-Old Autistic Son in the Head Multiple Times Killing Son
As of Thursday morning, at least 834 people had been shot and killed by American police officers so far this year.
Six-year-old Jeremy David Mardis is the youngest among them.
The autistic first-grader was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car being driven by his father, Chris Few, in Marksville, La., when city marshals âallegedlyâ attempted to serve the man a warrant about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. But when checked with the County Clerks office, no warrant could be found in the database.
Police claim Few fled, eventually turning down a dead-end street. And that Few then attempted to back his vehicle out, striking officersâ cruisers, prompting an exchange of gunfire between the officers and driver that left him hospitalized and his son dead.
However, An official briefed on the shooting said that Few was unarmed when two officers opened fire, shooting between 13 and 18 bullets combined. Five of the officersâ bullets pierced Jeremyâs body, Mayeux said, with the two fatal shots hitting him in the head and chest. That official said it is unclear if the shooting was captured on camera.
The police involved in the shooting all had criminal records including rape.
After the officers names were released, It didnât take long for local press to uncover extensive rap sheets for both officers:
Derrick Stafford, the officer indicted for rape, also has five pending civil suits against him for various complaints of excessive force, including breaking the arm of a 14-year-old girl on a school bus as well as assaulting and pepper-spraying a 15-year-old boy at a Fourth of July celebration.
Norris Greenhouse Jr., the other officer implicated in the murder of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis, is named in several of the same suits for acting in tandem with Stafford.
Louisiana State Police announced on Wednesday that they had launched an investigation into the incident at the request of the Marksville Police Department.

âGhostbustersâ star Leslie Jones exposes racist harassment on Twitter
On Monday afternoon, the Ghostbusters star and Saturday Night Live cast member tweeted that she was tired of receiving constant harassing messages with overt racist and sexist imagery. Jones announced that she was going to stop blocking her Twitter harassers so that their tweets and comments could be seen publicly in order to expose their offensive nature. Almost immediately, her fans sprung into action.Â

This bitch again. Good lord, sheâs a fucking idiot.
Your the only idiot here, why so uncomfortable??
Last time I checked, I wasnât an idiot. If youâve ever seen her videos, all she does is spout bullshit with no facts or evidence whatsoever, and then dozens of people debunk her stupid nonsense.
And you are straight pulling shit out of your ass. But itâs okay. Y'all love doing that
You sure that isnât what the bitch up there is doing? Because she is doing exactly that.
Not that it matters if she is or not, she just made a video on useless facts. (if they even are facts)
Apparently they are facts, people in the notes are backing what she is saying. And just because your uncomfortable about the sickening history of this country doesnât mean anything. You need to get over it. It the truth (the REAL truth). You donât have to believe it, the truth will always be the truth.
Itâs the truth because random ass people in the notes agree with her? Iâm sorry, but Iâm not going to instantly believe people on a website that demonizes white people. And Iâm not uncomfortable with the history of this country. This country has its ups and downs, and throughout history there have been people from the same race/gender/etc. who disagree on things, so you canât group them all together. And this chick is the type of person who tries to use the past to make white people in the present look bad.
Lol, you are so damn ignorant and willfully want to stay that way. If someone says they live in a certain place, chances are they live their. But go ahead feel like your race is being âattackedâ when their being called out on the bullshit they perpetrate on a daily basis. Poor you. Iâm done, stay ignorant.
Wait what? What the fuck are you even talking about? One thing, living somewhere is in no way âperpetratingâ anything so I have no idea how you even managed to pull that one from your ass. And I never denied that anyone lived anywhere? Like, seriously, what the fuck are you even talking about? Iâm just saying that the bitch is trying to make the race of a population into a problem when it isnât a fucking problem.
I said Iâm done with your extra ignorant ass. Be gone you dummy
Holy fuck another person saying âbe gone.â Is that becoming a thing idiots say? Who the fuck even says that anymore? Also, thanks for avoiding the conversation completely.
Ok hereâs your shot. Simple assignment.
Disprove anything in that video, without calling anyone out there name. Site your sources.Â
Bonus question: If you arenât racist, and you know racism is a bad thing, and that it exists, why would this video bother you?Â
