The story is in the link but tldr is our gas stove has no safety features and can be turned on very easily. I've turned the gas on accidentally while cooking by bumping it before, so it was very easy for our cats to kick it or drop something on it to ignite it. Now the whole house has to go through fire remediation if we don't want to get sick from living there.
