Hello friend! So the post you just reblogged about the real life gangster stuff is actually not entirely accurate, as I wrote it when I first started reading about gangsters, and hadn't found the right source material yet. There's some things that are right, but I wanted you to know
Thank you for the update!. I’ve read some stuff about the real gangsters, but you never know the entire truth (unfortunately).
Boardwalk Empire vs. Real Life: New York Gang facts.
Prohibition: At the start of 1920, AR was 38 years old. Lucky, who had already earned his nickname, was 23. Meyer, was 19, and Benny only 14.
Friendship/partnership: (as opposed to what wikipedia says) Lucky met Meyer in school, where he bullied the small boy until Meyer stood up to his threats. Classic right? Several years later, Meyer met Benny as a teenager, and remained friends with both him and Charlie up until both of their deaths.
Costello: The show has not yet included a character for Frank Costello, when in real life, he and Lucky were very close.
Melting-pot: The New York Gang was one of the few gangs to have Jewish, Italian, and even some Irish members
Yiddish Meyer?: Meyer Lansky actually met AR at a bar mitzvah
The Mob's accountant: Meyer Lansky had a knack for mathematics and numbers, and also had a genius level IQ
Your name: Lucky's real name was Salvatore Luciana. Theory of why he changed it ranges from kids pronouncing his name wrong, to feeling Sal was a girls name, to evading family history.
Crazy as a bedbug: Benny earned his nickname "Bugsy" for his irrational temper, which is well-portrayed in the show. He hated it, unlike Charlie, who wanted to be called "Lucky"
Little Man: The real-life Meyer Lansky was just under 5 feet in height. Anatol Yusef, the actor who plays Meyer, is 5 foot, 4 inches
Visionary: If you don't think much of Benny now, just remember he's the guy who basically builds Las Vegas
Connected: The real Benny Siegel once described Meyer and Lucky by saying, "They were more than brothers, they were like lovers." (There you go fanfics)
(Spoiler maybe?) Untimely death: If the show continues through to the death of Nucky Thompson (based off of Nucky Johnson) we will probably see dear AR shot and killed in 1928. He will be 46.
Boardwalk Empire AU → quirky indie romantic comedy
All Jimmy Darmody wants is to live normal life, but nothing in his life is normal. While his marriage is going through crisis he has to struggle with a chain of random events, and people just keep showing up and messing with things. Dad’s obsessed with taxidermy and wants to win a local competition. One uncle has a gambling problem and the other one is megalomaniac. His best friend (who also, for some reason, insists on wearing a mask all the time) finds a stray dog and asks Jimmy to take care of the thing because he’s currently staying in a motel. To make it worse, his college buddies from NY make a badly-scheduled visit.
The house is crowded. And these people (and the dog) don’t get on very well. All he wanted is a quiet evening. It’s obviously too much to ask.
IDEK ALL I WANT IS CHARLIE BEING ABSOLUTELY CONFUSED BY ALL THE TAXIDERMY HE’S ALSO PROBABLY IN A ~COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP WITH MEYER IN THIS
