My favorite "to-go" snack.
Stuffed sweet potato with chicken and sautéed greens.
Lunch: leftovers! Roasted brussel sprouts, savory pork meatballs, and cauli "rice"
Morning snack: a hot mug of bone broth full of roasted kale.
I'm back on the AIP diet, elimination phase. This morning I made a yummy coconut porridge.
Day 3: mint, celery heart, mango, ginger, date smoothie.
Day 2: berry blast! Strawberry, blueberry, and almond* milk smoothie with ginger, dates, and cucumber. Yum! * use coconut milk for AIP.
Day 1 of a 30-day green smoothie challenge.
Pineapple, lettuce greens, cilantro, lemon, kiwi, coconut Kevita. Very cool, cleansing, and refreshing!
Pork shoulder roast (rosemary, sage, and Real Salt) with sautéed Swiss chard, a baked sweet potato, and a side of raw sauerkraut.
Roast pasture-raised sirloin tip (oregano and basil) with roasted potatoes and carrots. Sided with salad greens topped with olive oil and red wine vinegar.
This morning’s smoothie: blueberry, cucumber, banana, baby spinach, parsley, ginger, coconut oil, coconut Kevita, and orange juice.

This morning’s smoothie: kale, pineapple, blueberries, banana, almond butter, turmeric, orange juice and coconut Kevita.
Do you have a food religion? At TEDxPortland, food writer Mike Thelin spoke about the deeply-held beliefs and convictions we form around our food choices, and the power of food to bring people together. From his talk:
When I think of why food matters and ‘why is food important?’ I don’t think anyone said it better than James Beard … He said, ‘Food is our common ground, our universal human experience.’
Now think about that. Regardless of what food religion you’re in or what camp you’re in, the most important thing about food is its power to unite and bring people together.
So forget about all that other stuff and don’t abandon you’re convictions, but remember what makes it important: the power of food to bring a family together, the power of food to bring a community together, to bring a city together, and this little planet we’re on floating in space, I think it can bring that together too.
Dinner: grass-fed beef patty with bacon and avocado. Sided with a fennel/apple salad and roasted sweet potatoes and yams.
Lunch: warm spinach salad with sardines, avocado and fresh strawberries.
