it's a general thing we notice more and more that neuro-regardless, boys are so much less regulated by adults than girls are in their behaviour - and neurodivergent boys are given so much more free rein to behave however they like than girls are, once you start noticing it, it's endemic

we had to point out to our friend that he policed his daughter's emotions in a way that he never seemed to with his son? like "ask me more calmly, I'm not listening to you until you calm down" was a thing he often said to his daughter but never to his equally autdhd son (we don't know how relevant it is that the dad here is trans and adhd, and we don't know how much this gendered treatment got normalised in his own family when he was a kid too)
