I hate when people tell me I'm not Indian. I get it, I wasn't born in India but its a part of my culture, my values and identity. I grew up speaking the language, eating and cooking the food, watching Bollywood films, attending various cultural events, listening to music and best of all dancing. Growing up, I was one of the only people of another race in my school and I still hung on to the culture when it would have been much easier to drop it. Being Indian is part of me, and yes I am and proud of it.
