i'm being tongue-in-cheek but also quite genuine. yeeeeees i have no portfolios set up (who has the time for that with 40+ hours a week at the front desk?) but you can trust me. i can do anything

so like, i've been employed for over a year, right? entry level office admin and sales (it was the only job i could get because of *gestures at everything*)... at least it's not retail. got a promotion, i'm an assistant manager now.

bills are covered, but i feel my sanity drip from me. i'm creating less -- too stressed and exhausted. i'm making the most money i've ever made, but that's not saying much as someone who lives in the pnw and has only ever been a low level grunt until now.

all this to say i'll be your dog if you'll unlock my cage. woof woof

i think it is cool to be an underrated artist (not copium).

getting attention on fanart is not particularly hard. then, when you make non-fanart and even just a couple people like it despite not having any context or understanding... appreciating it as art alone instead of something they distinctly recognize... very cool.

i never really gave myself the chance to participate in formerly-much-more-active art communities; i was shy and unwell. and young! maybe "good" at art, but juvenile in skillset regardless. i didn't gain any sort of following significant enough to want to share or polish much of what i was doing, reserving the majority of it to personal sketchbooks and friends.

...so maybe smaller reactions are just what i'm used to. but i don't know...! when i get any interaction on anything, i have to imagine the x amount of physical bodies it took to proceed in the interaction(s), utilizing any amount of energy to communicate "i saw this and enjoyed it". how charming!

i won't pretend like my preferred mode of communication isn't words -- or better yet, conversation -- over the click of a like button... it's just nice to get any amount of energy spent on what i've made. those who want to talk will make themselves known, and those uninterested will continue on. i'm not here to farm dialogues; i'm making things because i like to make them and i'm sharing things because it's fun to share them. anything else that i get out of it is a bonus...

i understand finding a lack of interaction disheartening, but it makes me sad to imagine this social-media-manufactured abscence leading to people giving up the act of creation or participation. who do you create for*?
