I've seen a lot of posts recently (on Facebook mainly, but still) talking about how white people can't relate to or shouldn't sing along/post covers of/or dream of being in Hamilton.

Posts saying that it's for BIPOC ONLY and if you want to be in it "you can be Samuel Seabury or King George cause you white 😊".

This does a MAJOR disservice to Lin's genious.

Lin's point was not "only certain races can play in my show" Lin's point was "race shouldn't determine what parts you play".

Hamilton is for BIPOC. It gave an amazing opportunity to people who otherwise wouldn't have them. It changed theater as we know it.

BUT

If you're yelling at white people for enjoying a work of art, for dreaming of one day being part of an amazing show, for finding truth, love, and enjoyment from a show, there's a problem.

When people say "It's my dream to play [insert Hamilton character]!" 90% of them will never go to Broadway or be in a show as a main character. A lot of them probably can't even sing. A lot of them are just talking. Just have heroes. They have BIPOC heroes even though they are white! Isn't that what we want? BIPOC have been forced to have heroes who don't look like them, now white people are being forced (not in an oppression way, but in a "wow a lot of white celebs are stupid" way) to recognize that BIPOC are worth looking up to. Are even BETTER to look up to then a lot of the white trash we have looked up to in the past.

Hamilton made it so we can have a BIPOC Glinda in Wicked. It proved to us that race shouldn't be an issue regardless of what part is being auditioned for.

Hamilton isn't about being BIPOC exclusive. It's about being EVERYONE INCLUSIVE.
