「♘」—— The smile was somewhat comforting, but he guessed it would have to do for now. Robin didn’t smile back, not because he didn’t want too but because he thought it was much too hard pointless. ❝I don’t need a break, Chrom.❞

He didn’t need a break, as stubborn as it sounded. Tharja had given him that small relaxation potion (Was that what he should call it?), but then again he had yet to take it. Besides, he had yet to see Chrom sleep. Everyone was on edge, so it was expected if everyone had been falling behind ont their sleep.

❝What I need is to find everyone again before it’s too late. Why should I care about my health while they’re all out there, in danger. The gods know what kind of work they’re being put through, so my exhaustion doesn’t even match up to them…❞

╰☆╮ He’s gone and hit a soft spot. It was the truth though! This man standing in front of the Exalt needed rest, and it wasn’t going to get any better for him if he didn’t! The blue-haired male frowned and folded his arms as he heard the other’s reaction to the male’ words. He wasn’t expecting it this forward, but he was expecting something along the lines of a no, so he wasn’t all that wrong.

“We’re all looking for them as a team Robin, so you don’t need to take all of the responsibility! I know that you’re thinking about them, and you want to do all you can to find them, but so do we.” He paused before speaking again, pointing out something to him. “And what do you think Roxanne will think if she finds out that you’ve not been sleeping, hm? She’ll be mad with you.”

“Nothing much. I’m just happy to be speaking to someone who was referred to as a legend in my timeline.. Lucina often told wonderful stories about you, referring to you as a hero alike to the hero king, Marth.” ❤ Yarne’s tail began to thump, smiling as he looked at the male. Sometimes, Yarne acted more like a rabbit than a man. ❤

╰☆╮ Chrom never really looked at himself as someone who was a hero-figure to many, so when Yarne claimed that he was of that status, he rubbed the back of his neck, letting an uncomfortable smile grow upon his lips. Of course, he was touched that his own daughter thought of him that way, but he hardly was hero material. He just did his job as a leader of a Kingdom, as well as a father to a loving family, and that was that.

“Well, to be honest, I’m not any sort of hero…” He paused before continuing his words towards the rabbit.“I was simply doing what most rulers would do for their people, as well as what a father would do for his family.”

「♘」—— Gods, he probably shouldn’t have asked in the first place. Robin was grateful that it seemed to fly right over the exalt’s head, now that he was aware of Chrom’s feelings. ❝No, that’s quite all right.❞

╰☆╮ Chrom was never one to notice things like romance, so when he was questioned about this topic, he was either embarrassed or clueless on the other’s feelings. It wasn’t going to blossom into anything even if he did have some sort of feelings for Cordelia, because there was only one woman in his life, and he was keeping it that way!

“Well, alright then.”< b> He paused before speaking to the other again, feeling somewhat confused. “If you wish to leave, then go ahead.”

Gregor was happy that Chrom was in a better mood. He had no doubt that The Exalt would overcome his illness, but for the first time since his visit, Chrom’s mood and expression was all the physical proof that the old mercenary needed. The man standing in front of him was growing into a great leader and the sellsword was really starting to see it. During the war Gregor chose to follow Chrom for his gold but since then,  the mercenary decided that he would follow his leader out of respect, not just coin. He certainly wouldn’t refuse payment if Chrom offered it of course, but it was no longer necessary.

“Details eh?” the mercenary said while scratching his head through his sandy red hair. “Is tough. Slavers are very tricky,” he admitted to Chrom. Although he had never worked for slavers, (not knowingly anyway), he had crossed paths with them during his long history as a sellsword. In his experience, slavers usually came from different walks of life, just as likely to hail from either noble or common birth. He was unsure of how professional this band was; he had heard tales of slavers being both very good and very bad at their jobs. So far, it seemed like their foes knew what they were doing, but Gregor took a deep breath and told Chrom what he knew.  “Slavers are usually take people who can work strong. Sometimes they are takings the wealthy, so that they can be making ransom. And...sometimes they are takings pretty girls so can...” but he stopped there, remembering that The Exalt’s wife and sister were among those counted missing. No need to finish his sentence and burden Chrom with that nasty thought.

“If slavers are smart, they are of movings fast,” Gregor explained. “Stay in same place for long and you are likely to be gettings caught. So if we are actings fast enough, shepherds can into catchings before slavers are leaving. And if slavers are being not careful, they may try to be sellings person close to home. Professional will not be makings mistake that careless.” The mercenary had hoped his explanation was through enough for Chrom’s liking, and paused to see if there was anything else his companion wanted to know.

╰☆╮ He had grown these past couple of years- especially after Emm’s passing. It was hard for him, but he hardened himself and plunged forwards, getting him to where he was now. Of course, he would never have been able to do it without the people that were around him. It was physically impossible for him to do what had been done without the support of his comrades. When he had asked for details from the sellsword in front of him, the blue-haired male noticed that he had said something about pretty girls. He had gotten the jist of what he was saying, and clenched his fists from anger. He didn’t want anyone caught from his Shepherds to undergo that. There had been three beautiful girls taken already!

“Those dastards...They won’t get away with it!”

He took a deep breath as he listened to the other, now taking in his details of their plans. It was a shame that he had missed such meetings, but it was just as good to get filled in. He was sick after all, so there was no way he could have joined in. When Gregor explained about the Slaver’s movements, he placed his had upon his chin, going into thought. ‘Moving Fast… huh?’ he thought to himself before speaking to Gregor, now actually thinking up things that they could do… Well, he was no strategist, hence why he hired both Robin and Roxanne, but he knew enough to think of plans like this.

“So, what if we were to learn their movements and catch them whilst they’re on the move? We would just only have to move faster than they are- of course, that sounds much easier than what it actually is, but it’s worth a shot, right?” He paused for a moment, suddenly remembering something that Gregor had done for him.“Also, this is a dramatic change of topic, but thanks for that stew. It was nice, and it made me feel better.”

Whew, what a relief that it had been his father in here and not some lady’s changing room or something. Morgan might’ve gotten a little impatient and opened the door before Chrom responded, but it’d turned out alright. Grinning, he pushed the door open the rest of the way, figuring he’d just head right in.

He halted as soon as he noticed the pile of papers on Chrom’s desk, though. It was likely what’d been keeping the man occupied for so long, and Morgan didn’t want to interrupt in the middle of something important. “Um, it’s not too important.” He fiddled with the strap on his bag as he paused. “If you’re in the middle of something I can wait, I wouldn’t want to put Ylisse at risk just because I wanted to visit,” he added with a laugh.

“Oh, I suppose I should give you this anyways, though!” Morgan rifled through his bag, pulling out a couple of objects wrapped in paper. They looked a little squashed now too, but Chrom hadn’t seen them before they were packed, so maybe he wouldn’t notice. “I don’t know how good they are, but I promise they’re probably edible!” he said, hurrying over to the desk to offer one to his dad.

╰☆╮ He wanted to see more of his children, since both of them are his life- his whole family and friends, as well as the people of Ylisse are his life as well. When he wasn’t ale to see his kids due to him being too busy, it made him a little down. Of course, he always hide it to his subordinates and other people who worked around him, but it honestly did make him sad.

“It’s fine, honestly. Take as much time here as you need.” The blue-haired male knew that he needed to finish this but his son wanted him, so he was having a break here and now. “I’m taking a break now that you’re here.”

He watched Morgan take something out of his bag and offered them to him. Did he make him lunch? A smile grew upon his face as he looked at the male, happy that the younger male thought of him. When he was handed them, Chrom took them and placed a hand upon his head, ruffling it gently. He was appreciative of this boy’s effort, that’s for sure.

“You made this for me? How thoughtful, thank you!” He paused for a moment before replying to the other’s comment. “I’m sure they’re really good, Morgan. Thanks again.”

╰☆╮ He listened to the girl stating that Fredrick wouldn’t be angry with him, despite not being able to shake the mental image out of his mind. He looked back at the wall before looking back at the other, thinking about listening to her and going with her. She did have a point though, it was a while ago since they last spoke, and he had been one of the busiest people around here, so now was the perfect opportunity to catch up.

“Well, alright then. I’ll go with you. Do you have anywhere in particular that you want to go to?”

╰☆╮ It hadn’t been long before a Risen had attacked him, and even though he was ready for it, you still cannot underestimate them. They were the living dead after all. Pushing them off with his sword, his attention was turned to Sully, who had seemed to fall off her horse.

╰☆╮ The blue-haired male gazed upon the other as he had noticed them, wondering what they wanted andwho they were even. He hadn't seen them before anyway.

Morgan was practically humming to himself as he navigated the halls of the castle, excited to have an excuse to visit his father. Well, it wasn’t really an excuse; he’d thought that with how busy Chrom had been running Ylisse and all, maybe he’d appreciate having lunch brought to him.

Or at least, maybe he’d appreciate the thought. Morgan had never really been good at cooking, and now that he had to actually remember which room was which, he realized he had very little knowledge of the castle’s layout. In the time it had taken him to backtrack once or twice, the already sub-par sandwiches he’d packed had probably been squished flat as the bag they were in bounced against his hip.

Well, they’d just have to do. Morgan was too determined to back out now; he’d barely gotten a chance to talk to his father since the war had ended, he wasn’t about to pass this up.

Finally stopping at a familiar-looking room – this was Chrom’s study, right? – he cautiously gave the door a couple of raps with his knuckles. Hmm, maybe that had been too quiet. He leaned closer to the door, wondering if his voice would carry through it.

“Hey, Dad? You in there?”

╰☆╮ The blue-haired male had been working all day, being the one who ran Ylisse and managed pretty much everything behind it. He never did once complain about the very big duty he had resting upon his shoulders, but neither did his sister Emm, and she had it much harder than he did. If he felt like complaining, he would think back to those events again, and would instantly stop himself, getting on with the job instantly. This time around however, he was actually tired, and growing to become rather hungry. Letting out a yawn as he looked over some papers that was given to him, something caught his attention. It was Morgan.

At first, Chrom wasn’t quite sure what to expect, since there was often traps laid for him everywhere by his child, but now here he was at his door. Despite that, Chrom remained where he was, and turned to face the boy instead.

“I’m here! Come on in.”

He cherished his children with all of his heart, and seeing them always brightened up his day- no matter what it was or how they had encountered him. His blue eyes were fixed onto the other as he gazed at him, wondering what he wanted. When he had gazed, a small smile was worn upon his lips, showing him that he was pleased to see him, despite how busy he was with this damn mountain of papers.

“What is it? Did you need something?”

▬ A soft laugh escaped her lips upon hearing his declaration, memories of the past months she’d spent on her own rushing back to her. ❛Oh, you have no idea,❜ she said in a huff, smile spreading as she leaned in closer to him.

It was addictive, the comforting warmth that seemed to follow him - how whenever he was there, everything felt so right. It didn’t matter if it was to stimulate her on the battlefield, reassure her in times of troubles or simply to make up for a long time spent apart - in any case, his mere presence made her life better. He had this way of washing her worries and insecurities away with a few words or a simple gesture - this way of making her feel loved while still being himself.

Sometimes he could even make her feel like she deserved him.

❛Our room feels so cold to me without you,❜ she said half-jokingly, the longing still audible in her voice. She wasn’t sure she should tell him how she went back to live in her old Shepherd lodgement from back when they weren’t married yet while he was gone because she couldn’t handle sleeping in their royal suite on her own.

She bit her lip for a second, not proud to think her sentiments were getting in the way of something as crucial and important as her sleep. Then again, with Chrom barely inches away from her now, she had no reason to ponder on this since it wouldn’t be a problem from now on.

Roxanne shifted her gaze back onto little Lucina who was fast asleep again - it also seemed to her that her daughter was even cozier than before, all wrapped-up in blankets in her father’s arms. The brunette raised her hand to gently run her fingers through her baby’s blue hair, a knowing smile tugging at her lips as the small one seemed to relax even more. ❛I guess the both of us only needed him to return at last, huh ?❜ she quietly asked little Lucina.

Straightening herself back up to Chrom’s eye level, she started realizing he was probably exhausted from the trip - as she was from her day. Deciding they’d better keep details for tomorrow, she cut straight to the case; ❛How was Ferox? Tell me they won’t need you anytime soon.❜ Tell me you’re not leaving anytime soon.

╰☆╮ When she leaned in closer to him, the blue-haired male allowed his free hand to wrap around her, holding her there within an embrace, even if it was only half of him! He was holding Lucina within the other arm, and when the embrace happened he felt like he was the luckiest man alive- having a beautiful family here right beside him. All he needed was this happiness, and it was coming to him whenever he even looked at his wife and daughter.

“Don’t I? How don’t I have any idea, hm?”

The feeling of having these two around him was honestly irreplaceable. It was something that he always looked forward to when he arrived back from a mission. He just wished that she could accompany him once more, so that he could be with her all of the time. He needed to be around his family always! With the current events happening however, he didn’t want to endanger them, leaving Roxanne behind here to look after her baby, since he knew that she would be able to! She was a good mother and a strong fighter, nothing would get past her!

“My room was also cold without you both as well.”

He didn’t want to really tell her something that would embarrass him but seeing as she said such things, he decided to throw himself out here. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t seen him blush before anyway! He had done it more times than he could even count! The male smiled as he felt a blush grow upon his face, wondering how she would react to what he was about to say.

“I do wish you were there for me to stay with though… Because, you know… I-I missed you.”

He was happy to see that Lucina had relaxed within Chrom’s arms, especially since he was just as happy to see her. She was so relaxed that she had fallen asleep, but that also made him approach the cot that she had and placed her gently in there, kissing her on the forehead before walking backwards, wanting to leave the room so that they weren’t disturbed.

“Sweet dreams, my precious Lucina.”

After leaving the room and slowly closing the door behind him, dragging Roxanne out with him, he didn’t discuss the Ferox thing until they had left, and he had changed into a more serious one. It was as if a button was pressed and he changed instantly to a political Chrom with important duties to attend to. He nodded towards her, giving her the signal that everything was fine before speaking to her. He knew that she didn’t want him to go again, but the next time she would be coming with him instead.

“Everything’s fine. I don’t need to go back there for a while, so for now we can sit back, relax, and focus on our own Kingdom.”

The Exalt had asked Gregor about the rumors that have been floating around, and Gregor felt a bit uneasy. He wasn’t sure what exactly Chrom had heard, but he recalled the idle chatter he overheard back at the tavern. In Gregor’s opinion the most disturbing fact wasn’t that people were gossiping; people will always gossip. The thing that unnerved the sellsword the most was the fact that the rumors were crossing into different circles. Nobles, merchants, smiths, soldiers, farmers, even destitute beggars all seemed to think that something was seriously wrong.  Gregor debated about what he should share with The Exalt. He didn’t want to dishearten Chrom; it was nice to finally see him up and moving again. But on the same token, his blue haired leader had a right to know the truth.

“Oy,” he said while sighing and rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand, “People start to sayings things, is true. Gregor think that people sayings these things because they are into feeling scared. They are wantings fast problem solving, but problem like this is takings much time.” The mercenary wished he had more advice to offer Chrom, but he wasn’t particularly a pillar of wisdom in situations like this. Having to advise a lord and getting paid substantially less was partially why knighthood never appealed to him. And currently, nobody was paying him to go butcher the slavers, so he was a bit outside of his element. But he put on a reassuring smile and patted Chrom’s shoulder in a friendly manner.

“But no worries, Chrom and Robin will be come up with plan. Always do. And if plan is involve Gregor smash, Gregor is full support of plan!”

╰☆╮It was obvious that Gregor heard them, and he knew that by how uneasy he had become when Chrom asked about them. Did he just put unnessacary pressure on the older male? It wasn’t intentionally, and he was sure that the other knew that. Damn rumours making people’s lives difficult! It wasn’t long now before Chrom could even prove everyone that these rumours were wrong anyway! He really was ill, and this wasn’t something he would fake.

”I see… He paused for a moment before talking to the other once more, replying to his words. ”So that’s how they feel about this, huh?... Very well, thank you for telling me.”

He let out a sigh as he heard the other say such things. So this is how they thought about everything.. It was shame for them to think of Chrom this way, but then again it wasn’t really their fault for doubting him after going quiet whilst this was happening, was it? Turning his gaze to look at the window for a small moment, Chrom went deep into thought about this whole situation. Now he needed to speak with them and show them that he wasn’t lying, but that was going to be harder than he probably expected.

He was then brought back to Gregor’s attention when the other gave him more words to listen to, now feeling that they had made progress! That was good new! So much so that a smile grew back upon his face, replacing the serious look that was on his face. He was raring to go right now, and get into the action, but with the state of health that he was in, it was going to prove difficult for him to fight. He knew this too well.

”Excellent! Could you tell me the details, or at least the details that you know, please?”

 It has happened to me more than one time to be discriminated because my sentence structure is a bit different and since people care so much for being literate, I would like to know those who don’t really discriminate, as long as it is understandable and it doesn’t show horrible mistakes that makes it hard to read.

He would find them thought, in fact it had become rather obsessive of him. As if he already didn’t get enough sleep, spending nights pouring over strategies didn’t help him. ❝I suppose so. As long as we keep searching, we’ll find them.❞

╰☆╮Chrom knew all too well what Roxanne was like, and seeing that she was with them, he knew they wouldn’t be too hurt in this situation. He knew that he also probably ha too much faith in the woman that he loved but, that was his job as her husband wasn’t it?

“Exactly. Keep you chin up.”

A smile was worn upon his lips as he said his encouragements, reassuring Robin- or at least trying to - that everything was alright.

“Yeah, that’s true. But you also need to take more breaks than you have been taking. You hardly take one, so please start taking them.”

He knew that Robin hardly slept. He knew that already He also knew that he was probably pushing himself way too hard to find everyone and get them home saftely. He was concerned about it, so h felt like he should probably comment on it. He had tried before and it just ended in an effortless attempt, seeing as Robin still doesn’t sleep- him and Roxanne are the same in that aspect!

“You can’t fight if you’re too exhausted, and with that being said, what if you were exhausted and collapsed in the middle of the battlefield? That would be trouble for your health.”
