         his usual demeanor did all but disappear upon sight of her. the last semblance of a conscience he had ripped away at his mind, the jagged edges left in its wake creating doubts. however small they were, they were still doubts that plagued him until he could pull himself away from her ( out of sight out of mind ). 

        blue ( the real blue ) focused upon her at her words, a spark of recognition for what she had to say ( it was in agreement, after all ) . somehow it was easier if she admitted that she’d never understand what he did to protect her. it’s what all of this was for, though some would say it would’ve been kinder to put her in a tower with a dragon. but that would never do. 

        dragons could be slain.

        “    that’s  better  .  but  never  say  never -  maybe  someday  you’ll  recognize  what  i’m  trying  to  do  .    “

           hearing his words caused her heart to sink  ,  she wanted him to release the monster that he had become  .  still   -  though in the back of her mind  ,  angel was almost convinced that jack could still be saved  .  she believed that her father was still somewhere  (  behind that mask  )   in there  ; besides  he was the only family she had left now  .  

             still focused on jack  -  this was far from protection  ,  it was control  .  it was this little known fact that made it so hard for her to be around him  .  

‘   ...  i don’t know what to believe anymore  . ’ looking down at her feet now  .  everything will always be for jack  ,  she was stuck here  .

it was rare that jack would come visit angel in person  ,  everytime that he did however   -  it pained her to see the man that was supposed to be her father figure  ,  yet  -  angel created the illusion that her father was still in there somewhere  .  or was she finally losing it  ,  was he really looking out for his little girl (  trapped in a cage  )  ?  perhaps this was what she deserved  ,  after all her mothers death created a heavy burden on her wings  ;  and jack was not about to let her forget it  . ‘  no  ,  i suppose that i will never understand  .   ’  angel spoke as she swallowed the burning sensation that was growing in the back of her throat.
