Ursula von der Leyen got her way: this week the European Parliament allowed Chat Control to pass. From now on, Facebook, Gmail and other platforms are allowed to scan your messages. Von der Leyen and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola added this vote to the agenda at the last minute through a controversial emergency procedure that may even be in violation of EU law. Moreover, they ignored the will of the majority. They determined that an absolute majority of votes against was needed to stop the measure, namely 361 of the 720 MPs.

Both of these can be true.

Misplaced empathy leads to opening your borders to rapine beasts that ruin the future of your children.

It signals the death of empathy for your own people, your very own children.

He's not saying empathy itself is wrong, he's saying people can abuse it. He also said it's complicated.

Ironically, OP misquote is often deployed to demonize Musk himself and decrease empathy for him.
