OK, so we're in kind of a good news/bad news situation here. We did not get enough sign ups to run an exchange. The good news is that we are still willing to run an event if people are interested in a non-exchange type of event.
This is where you come in!
What kind of event would you be interested in?
A free-for-all ship week (post whatever you want with no guidance)
A ship week with optional themes or a bingo card
A ship challenge*
Some combination or other option that I will expand upon in the tags or replies
Results / if it can't be an exchange, I'm not really interested
*For those unfamiliar, a challenge week includes things like reblogging old works, commenting on fic, reading new fic, rec lists, reblogging gifsets, sending asks to creators you'd like to get to know better, etc. A good example is being done by @tiesanjiaoshenanigans for Wu Xie Birthday Week.

Li Lun is always so carefully guarded when it comes to his real feelings but that disbelieving, wounded eye tremble when Zhao Yuanzhou shows concern about Wen Xiao's pain always gets me. It's all but saying "oh, you care about her suffering, but not the fact that I'm plagued with the slow torture you put in my body?" He doesn't see it coming, just like how he didn't see it coming that Zhao Yuanzhou would take Zhao Wan'er' side and turn against him. And in that shock, he forgets for a second to mask how much that hurts. He lets it show, not that Zhao Yuanzhou is looking. Cause Zhao Yuanzhou is never looking at him, these days.
Give this poor guy a break 😭 how much more heartbreak does he need to go through

Putting together that "Pagoda trees are naturally prone to attracting malicious energy" and the fact that Li Lun talks about himself and Zhao Yuanzhou as though they've known each other since birth, what if... And I'm saying what if
... They gained sentience as yao because of each other's proximity.
No, hear me out. Zhu Yan is literally the biggest source of malicious energy of the two realms. And Li Lun is a pagoda ghost tree. What if they naturally attracted each other and developed conscious thought to reach out
This might not be confirmed as part of their lore but I'm def incorporating it into my headcanons. In this light, their agonizing struggle to part ways for good makes so much more sense. How do you bring yourself to cut off someone who made you who you are
At the very least, it explains so much of Li Lun's struggle to grapple with their falling out. It's literally his nature to be attracted to and to attract the world's biggest recipient of malicious energy, and he's the only being who's ever been his match in a fight. In his eyes, he was made to belong to Zhu Yan, so he doesn't get at all how the same couldn't be true the other way around. And so he keeps asking, how can you try to find your match elsewhere when I'm right here, and I was literally born to be compatible with you
