a latte inconvenience
mpxnahyun:
All Nahyun wanted was a peppermint mocha. She had been in Seoul the previous night and had not gotten back until dawn, so she was in desperate need of caffeine– after all, she couldn’t just sleep away the day until her shift that night, she had things to do.
Unfortunately, things never seemed to go as plan. She was just waiting for her drink to be made when some big, stupid man bumped right into her and suddenly there was hot coffee all over her nice light-washed jeans. Just what she needed. Honestly, it was so typical; men never bothered to take notice of anyone around them, did they?
“Geez, would you watch–” But before she could even finish the reprimand he was walking away from her like nothing had happened. She could practically feel her blood boiling. Did any man have the ability to think or anyone but themselves? “Of course not, that involves intelligence and self-awareness,” she muttered to herself, dabbing at the stains on her pants. Luckily she was wearing denim, so it felt like she hadn’t gotten burned.
The vials of potassium chloride and syringes in her purse crossed her mind, but she figured that murdering someone over a spilled coffee was a little much, even for her. She should save that for the real scum, not just some asshole who apparently has no social skills or consideration for others. But maybe she’d keep an eye on him, see if he did anything that made him worthy of her time.
For now, she settled on storming right into the bathroom to give the guy a piece of her mind. “You can take your half-assed apology and shove it.” She announced, tone icy. “And maybe from now on use your limited intellect to at least have some awareness of the people around you, so you don’t just bulldoze over them like they don’t matter.” And then she heard them call out her order, so she turned on her heel and walked back to the counter.
he’s in the middle of allowing the skin of his arm to cool down when suddenly the woman he’d spilled coffee on suddenly storms into the bathroom as well. raising his gaze up to her in slight surprise, he is capable of listening to how she scolds him for his behaviour. eyebrows raising slightly at the way she addresses him, geng takes in her expression and then the way she stalks back out of the bathroom.
he would go after her, perhaps, if he knew what he was going to say in return. if he didn’t have to keep cooling his arm to make sure the burn wounds wouldn’t become to severe. he would’ve possibly gone after her, but he’s had one too many a wound infect because he’s carelessness with them. and so he remains in the bathroom with his arm under the tap water for another good fifteen minutes.
only then does he turn off the running water, returning to the coffee shop and walking up to the counter with his slightly dried arm lifted to keep the blood from flowing to it too freely. eyes scanning the crowd, he tries to figure out if the girl from before is still around, while he meanwhile orders a new latte from the person who came to ask him if he was alright.
“i apologise for the mess i made on the floor,” he states in a soft tone of voice, doing his best to ignore the wide eyes the barista is giving him because he’s just standing there with a clearly burned arm without even flinching.
