Wait, okay, hold up, I’m thinking.
There’s a decent chance that there’s going to be episodes that focus on individual totems.
The Gauntlet (6x13) = Courage
Hope For Tomorrow (6x15) = Hope
Nightmare In National City (6x16) = Dreams
I Believe In A Thing Called Love (6x17) = Love
Truth Or Consequences (6x18) = Truth
And though they haven’t released episode titles for the 2-part series finale, I’m thinking those would focus on Humanity and Destiny, especially since they made it a point for Zor-El to tell Kara that it’s okay to be human.
Each totem could help Kara realize something about herself that would ultimately lead up to the finale. The finale would focus on what exactly Kara’s destiny is, and how her humanity fits into it.
BONUS: this part is just me clowning and expecting too much, but we could potentially start seeing a progression for Supercorp in these totem episodes.
6x13 is about courage—both Kara’s struggle to pass the test of courage, and Lena’s struggle to gain the courage to embrace her powers. Essentially, this will most likely be about having the courage to embrace parts of themselves that they want to ignore.
I believe that, in 6x13, whilst facing their fears, they’ll have some sort of realization about each other—perhaps how they feel about each other. But they might not have all the courage they need to fully face it just yet; they might only have the courage to accept it.
They haven’t released the 6x14 synopsis yet, but the title Magical Thinking heavily implies that it’s a Lena-centric episode. There’s also set photos that show Kara and Lena reuniting properly in this episode. It could be after the realizations in 6x13 that they reunite and awkwardly dance around each other. Neither has faith things will work out.
6x15 is about hope. In the quest for the Totem of Hope, it would make sense for them to realize that it’s okay to hope that the things would work out between the two of them. However, 6x16 is titled Nightmare In National City, and it could very well cut into the hope built from the previous episode.
In 6x17, Supercorp could be forced to fully confront their feelings for each other and understand how they feel, and in 6x18, they could be forced to share those feelings as well as insecurities in order to save something—perhaps themselves, or perhaps their relationship.
Finally, in the series finale, with them being solidly settled down, we find out what’s in the future for them. Lena has ALWAYS been Kara’s humanity—it’s why Kara was so afraid to come out as Supergirl to her. It makes sense that talking about Kara’s destiny and future would involve the role her humanity plays, and how Lena plays into that.
Anyway, that’s just me clowning, so take it as a grain of salt. As much as I want these things to happen, I don’t think they will. I have no faith in the writers. But it’s fun to dream anyway.
