My household's been so stressful since Trumps been elected, and especially now after charlottesville. i'm a black girl adopted into a white family and they're all Trump supporters. In front of me my mom & boyfriend had the audacity to say BLM is a terrorist organization & he complains "why do i have to be reminded of slavery?! They already have Black History Month!". I also notice the more black people resist in the news the worse he treats me. Sorry, I just had to rant, its been tough.

I’m sorry that you’re going through that. I pray you find independence (I’m not sure how old you are) and I pray you find peace.

Except it literally is. I deal with verbal and emotional abuse daily at my job. I get disrespected daily. I’ve had customers throw things at me. Not one of those situations have I ever felt the need to pull a gun on them and shoot them. In fact, I am expected to tolerate that kind of abuse with a smile and often times those people get rewarded for their behavior.

If a cop can’t deal with being disrespected without murdering people then they don’t need to be a fucking cop.

I’ve been full on, all out, attacked when I worked in residential treatment. Purposely kicked in the face, violently bitten, bitten again with the express intent of setting me off and making me cry, punched in the face, all people much stronger than me, and cursed at with every single name under the sun. You know what we did?

We deescalated. We used non-injuring holds. While the jobs demands of us meant that these things often weren’t perfect, and deescalation was nigh impossible, not one of us EVER injured any of the clients. I started to hate my kids near the end and I still never thought of ever hurting them.

If a lay person can do that, if a person like me can go into a shift every single day knowing that I was likely to be injured, and STILL use non-lethal means of deescalation, how the hell are you going to tell me cops can’t? They have far more training than I did! They have far more means of non-lethal actions and tools at their disposal!

Fuck off with that it’s not always so clear cut nonsense.

Watch how a WHITE dude who was hopped up on PCP, threatening the cops, and approaching them menacingly, was NOT tased, or shot.

Watch how after a high-speed chase because she didn’t want a ticket, a WHITE woman comes out of her car holding her brick-of-a-cell phone like a gun, points it at the police, and she NOT tased, or shot.

Then come back and say, “it isn’t so simple”.
