my favourite thing about the raven cycle is how all of the characters are so in love with eachother. they’d live and die for eachother.

Actually I respect the fuck out of Carmen for kissing two sexy women throughout the dreamer trilogy. I know some people called it unexpected or out of nowhere, but if she were a white man it’d have made perfect sense. No one would’ve questioned it!

The continuous use of religious symbolism in the raven cycle is so interesting, considering ronan has god-like power.

Like he's the only consistently religious one seeking guidance in god, then at the end of the dreamer trilogy, he realizes that the only person he can seek guidance from is himself.

And I'd argue there is something very cain and abel about him and declan. Obviously minus the murder plot. Cain was jealous of abel because he won gods favour (declan feeling lesser than because both niall and ronan were dreamers), and so he kills him in anger (declan forces ronan to hide what he is and fights him on everything "he's moving out," - "then you've killed him")

Also, you know him being called "the snake" and his boyfriends name is adam.

I think one of my favorite unserious things about TRC is that everyone just simultaneously agrees without having to discuss it that Adam is just fucking gorgeous

The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.

"it's ok to show (x) in fiction as long as the bad guy gets punished!" the bad guy doesn't have to get punished. in fact the bad guy can win altogether. the bad guy can entirely get away with it. hope this helps

and this part might make some people's head explode but: characters can be written to forgive things you personally wouldn't ever forgive. not everything is written as what you'd perceive to be the right choice. not everything is a self-insert & protagonists don't have to be relatable.

one of my favourite things i like to hide in my fics is either adam or ronan doing something thats so gansey, and then have the other go "wtf." i think theres something so undeniably interesting about both ronsey and adansey and i do think that gansey slightly haunts the narrative with pynch. one of the greatest things about trc is how intertwined all of them are and i dont think that stops being true after they get into relationships
