saw a post letting people know that your ao3 bookmarks are viewable on your account unless you make them private, which suggests that the median ao3 user does not use ao3 in what i will call 'the optimum fic-finding treadmill' where you find a fic author you like and look through their bookmarks to find more fics that are good and then look through that author's bookmarks for even more good fics. like a conga line of great but extremely specific tastes. or one of those chessboard rice doubling analogies and oh no that is a LOT of ao3 tabs.

rap is awesome btw anyone who screams about it being overstimulating or bad is just racist. like i'm a ~high support needs~ autist with brain damage. crazy... how rap has never bothered me in the slightest.... 🤔 isn't that interesting . you'd think i would be the most sensitive to the apparently "oh-so-overstimulating" rap music..... maybe you should just get your shit together or admit the real reason you avoid it !

im not diagnosed with anything but i am certain that i am not neurotypical, and it does not make sense to me how rap can be overstimulating. from what i know, auditory stimulation is based on the volume and how many sounds are going on at once, paired with a bunch of other sensory problems. rap is no different than any other music, it has a beat, melody, rhythm, etc. if anything i say rap would be pleasant to those who have issues listening to 'regular' music since the beat and rapping are in a predictable rhythm(usually) and doesn't have a lot going on in the back like how other genres have backing vocals, so many instruments, tempo changes, etc. etc. rap isn't everyones cup of tea, which is respectable, but what ISN'T respectable is excluding genres that have large amounts of black people and their cultures influence. adamantly REFUSING to listen to rap seems like some preconceived bias that has nothing to do with the actual music

and just throwing this out, there may be a connection with some white neurodivergent people claiming rap is overstimulating and how some black people believe that neurodivergence(or mental health in general) is a white person thing. there is inherent privilege being able to get diagnosed that black people don't get, both socially and systemically. (EMPHASIS ON SOME!!! im not saying ALL people of those parties believe that)
