Once I was at a plant store and I have this subconscious habit of pulling leaves of plants so I did that and stuck the leaf in my pocket and when I got home I found it and felt bad so I dropped it in a pot with a bromiliad and a few weeks later it had taken root and started growing and that’s the story of how I pirated a plant

I ONLY JUST LEARNED ABOUT THE EXISTENCE OF THIS MUSHROOM????? WHICH ERUPTS FROM AN EGG BEFORE UNCURLING HELLISH ARMS, EXPOSING ITS STICKY MASS OF SPORES TO BE SPREAD BY FLIES ATTRACTED BY THE SCENT OF ROTTING FLESH???
Admittedly, I am easily won over by all organisms that attract flies with the scent of rotting flesh. But the octopus stinkhorn (Clathrus archeri) also has tentacles, a freaky egg stage, and blackish goop, so it’s my favorite now.
Nature really got it’s own crazy shit goin on

Plant City! Plant City! Yes! I love plant City! Thank you for sharing this with us all!
what if this was an alternate timeline to the Jack and the Bean-stock tale?
Slightly different adoption
what a good and wholesome post

Atlas minerálu - Alexander Bernard - 1907 - via Internet Archive
Les arbres [The trees] illustrated by Amandine Laprun
These incredible renderings were completed on a strange canvas- bracket fungi! Also known as “Artist’s conk”. The talented artist is Max Brödel , who was primarily known for his medical illustrations in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s.
Using a small metal tool, Max would scratch these renderings into the bracket fungus. The marks on the fungus cause a color change and when the fungus dries the marks are preserved.
To see more about Max’s work and to learn more about his legacy ( he trained a medical illustrator who went on to establish the AMI, who’s conference I saw these fungi at) check out this fantastic article by Vanessa Ruiz of Street Anatomy
