It’s Reibert Day!!!

And guess who told herself she’d write something real and yet again fell victim to school and general forgetfulness/laziness… ha. But, as per usual now, I’m just gonna throw a bunch of headcanons into the void and see where that goes, yeah? Hope you all have a great day to celebrate our boys! 

Imagine them meeting as kids, living on the same street, three houses down from one another. They spend all summer in each other’s backyards and every snow day building forts. They play all the sports with the neighborhood kids, go trick-or-treating together, and are considered adopted children at each other’s houses. And they fall in love super slowly and naturally, and no one is surprised when they get married. 

Reiner is much more comfortable with physical contact, and is usually the one to initiate hand holding, or he’ll slip his arm around Bertholdt’s shoulders when they’re sitting together, or just little touches like that. So when Bertholdt grabs his hand, Reiner dies a little bit. 

They love to take walks in the evening, enjoying the air and some quality time together. 

Bertholdt leaves cute post-it notes of encouragement around the apartment when Reiner’s having a tough week. 

Reiner doodles in the margins of this notebooks, usually drawing little caricatures of his friends. He rarely draws Bertl, though, because he always struggles to draw him right, he’s never perfect enough. And when Reiner expresses that frustration to his other friends, they melt inside cause how cute is that?

Happy Bertday!

It’s December 30th, which happens to be Bertholdt Hoover’s birthday! And, because he is my favorite, and I’m also incapable of writing things on time, we’re going to have a headcanon party for our boy! These are going to be a continuation of last year’s, so hopefully, I haven’t repeated anything…

Bertholdt doesn’t curse. It’s not that he has a problem with cursing, and he doesn’t mind when others do it, but he just does not use swear words on a regular basis. So when he does swear, it’s either absolutely terrifying or ridiculously adorable. 

He’s a great listener, and the squad often goes to him when they need to vent or talk something out. He also gives great advice, but not if you ask for it up front. If you ask for it up front, he’ll get nervous about it, but if it comes up naturally in conversation, it’s wonderful. 

He’s naturally a very graceful person. No matter the activity, (3DMG train gin, hand-to-hand combat, running, swimming, dancing, walking and existing like a normal person, etc.) Bertholdt just has a natural grace and poise in the way he carries himself, which is slightly surprising, given his lanky limbs. 

That being said, Bertholdt has really awesome muscles, but is super shy about them, and likes to let Reiner take the spotlight when it comes to that. Like his abs are gorgeous but you’d never know cause he so rarely takes his shirt off in front of people. It’s almost tragic.

I’m still in a Reibert Mood™ so I’m here with more headcanons. Here’s my first post!

Bertholdt is always cold, Reiner is a furnace, so Bertholdt will use this to his advantage.

Since Bertholdt is always cold, his hands are freezing. He’ll go up to Reiner and put his hands under Reiner’s shirt or on the back of his neck to mess with him.

Something Reiner does that pisses Bertholdt off is that he pees with the door open if it’s just them. To make it worse, if they were in the middle of a conversation, Reiner will attempt to continue it. Bertholdt refuses to interact with him in any way during this.

They always say they don’t need to buy the other anything for birthdays, anniversaries, etc and do they follow it? You bet not.

They have a very good connection with each other. They can easily tell when the other is uncomfortable just by body language or how they look at the other. No one else can pick up on these cues.

They one time forgot their anniversary. They were visiting Reiner’s parents (I headcanon that Reiner is very close with his parents and they adore Bertholdt) and Reiner’s mom casually asked them what they did for their anniversary the week before. They were so confused for almost a minute before it hit them. They always remember important days like that, but they’ve been so busy with life that it completely flew over them. They were in disbelief about it at first, but after a while, they found it quite funny. A few days later, they went on a date to make up for it.

Reiner one time cried about how much he loves Bertholdt when he was drunk and Ymir got it on video.

Reiner tends to forget that Bertholdt is actually really strong. Bertholdt can carry him/pick him up with barely any issues and every time he does that, Reiner is like :O.

When they were buying the bed frame that took them almost five hours to build, it took them like twenty years to pick out the right one because Reiner would lay on the mattress that the frame was being showed off with (”Reiner, this isn’t about the mattress. We’re just looking at the frame.”) and wouldn’t want to get up.

Occasionally, Bertholdt will nod or shake his head when asked a yes or no question, especially if he’s busy working on something or is getting really immersed in a book. Reiner can be in another room and ask him a question, and when he realizes he’s not getting an answer because Bertholdt most definitely did one of those actions, he’s like, “Babe, I can’t hear a shrug or nod!”

They both love storms! They’ll curl up and listen to the rain hit the roof and depending on how severe it is, they’ll open the windows (if they have screens on them) so they can hear it better and smell the fresh rain. 

They love to cuddle. They take turns being the big and little spoon. Bertholdt likes to listen to Reiner’s heartbeat and Reiner likes to put his head on Bertholdt’s lap. They love cuddling so much that even on the hottest day of summer, they’ll still do it even though they’re covered in sweat.

Reiner does the classic resting his cheek against his hand with a soft smile and look at Bertholdt with so much love. When Bertholdt notices, Reiner will be like, “You’re just so cute.”

Erwin hated going to the gym on Friday nights. Normally, he went on Tuesdays and Thursdays after work and jogged during the mornings on Mondays and Wednesdays, leaving his Friday evenings for him to go home, take his pants off, and watch television. That was what he preferred as it was the start of the weekend and the last thing he wanted to do was spend hours sweating and gasping at the elliptical machine, but unfortunately, overtime on Thursdays had been building up and prevented him from going that day.

He’d skipped the last two weeks because of it in the hopes that it wouldn’t keep happening, but it had again, and he didn’t need to miss another session or it was going to start affecting his overall appearance and exercise regiment. So, with that in mind, he sadly found himself at the gym one Friday night, changing into his workout clothes instead of pajamas and standing in the locker room rather than lounging around on his couch. Begrudgingly, he put his things away once he was dressed and tied his shoes, and made sure he had a towel and that his water bottle was full before he headed up to the weight room. Different days at the gym meant different regulars, and after looking around, Erwin saw that his favorite machine for warming up was taken. He didn’t want to take someone else’s machine - he was polite like that - so instead, he decided to warm up with the small handheld weights instead. They were placed along the wall at the back of the room opposite the machines, with the middle covered by a large, square mat that was for people doing yoga or working out on exercise balls and other things like that. After making his way around the room Erwin sat down on a bench next to a tower of weights, and settled for doing arm curls with a lighter one for warm up. He started counting and settled into the routine, idly looking around at all the people while he lifted it up and down. He’d barely gotten to number five before he saw him.
